Need More Diverse Offense

Our offense is as old school as any in recent memory. Here is what I would do to add diversity:

For Running Plays:

1. Pull the Guard to lead with the Fullback, giving the option to throw to the Fullback
2. Counter Tre
3 Use TE motion to trap. Makes the defense have to adjust and you can fake it and hit the TE on a quick out.

Passing Game:

1. Some Receiver Motion Plays!!!
2. Some Rub Routes
3. More Route Options
4. Quick hitting Pop Passes to TE and Slot guys. Always good for 5 yds., drives the defense crazy and the dynamic guys like Harley, Thomas, Pope (slot) and Mallory and Brevin Jordan (TE) can break these for long runs.

We did a lot, but definitely all of what you mentioned, it's just that we telegraphed that we were doing it. If you ask me, there were tons of short passes, screens, quick hits, etc. CMR would use them mostly only in predictable situations.

Because we are a private school our expenses are not public. I would hire Briles to conduct a evaluation of our playbook and a two-day [or week long] seminar regarding his suggestions. No one needs to know he consulted with us. Plus, when he is ready to return, he could use CMR for a credible reference...............as a less risky alternative, we could hire Ken Dorsey to do the same.................

I like all of gatorHater suggestions. The thing I want most is a true/clear offense identity. I think the addition of George gives us some insight into what identity Richt would like to establish and I'm all for it. I think he wants a run first grind you down and break you spirit offense before blowing your doors off with our passing game. I don't mind lots of 4-5yrd runs. They move the chains and sooner or later a gash run for 20-30yrds. Repeat and rinse. Before you know it DL & LB's have hands on their hips and are gasping. DB's get frustrated getting run over and then boom, 50yrd pass, 40yrd pass...our best team's ever have used this approach and we have a trophy case to prove it. Added bonus, our defense is fresh all 4Q's. My $0.02.

Go Canes!

Lol why do y’all think Richt is all of the sudden going to change his philosophy on offense. Lol I don’t think there was one play we had a WR in motion. Richt is about execution and he thinks if you execute his style, it will wrk.

I'm a Pro style til I die guy, but from a personnel standpoint we should be running an uptempo Spread Offense. We have a sh*t ton of speed at WR & even before Walton got hurt we had 2 of the best backs in the ACC with him & Homer, but we still couldn't run the ball well enough.

There are teams that have way worse OL's than we do & can still run the ball consistently without problem. If you watch College Football & not just Miami games you'll see we're very much an average Offense, not because we don't have the players but simply because we're not always putting them in the best position to execute.

In today's era of college football offensive productivity can be manufactured even if you don't have great players. Both UCF & USF were top 10 in Total Offense & Scoring Offense, we weren't even top 50 in either. Now you'll say "that's because they play weaker comp", Oklahoma, Oh St, USC & AZ were also top 10-15 in those categories as well, **** even Wake Forest had a better Offense than us, so it's not just G5 schools.

And if it's all just the QB then we should be on the path to starting one of the young guys come September right?

This year is the most loaded Offense we've had in **** near decades, we have a WR corp that is 9-10 deep if include Dallas as a slot/screen guy & a RB stable 4 deep with 3 4-star RB's & an elite 5-star. Plus 2 4-star TE's (one with 5-star talent) & a still developing Irvin Jr who can catch pretty **** well.

The OL is improved as well, so I don't wanna hear no more excuses as to why this Offense can't score & move the ball at a high volume, we should at the very least be top 25 offensively this season.
