Not Canes Related but I thought I would mention that Im heading out to see the defacto Bay Area championship game tonight. #3 ranked (in NorCal) Foothill High, 12-0 (my son's alma mater) versus #2 ranked Antioch high (12-0). I say "defacto" because no matter who wins this game they will get crushed by De La Salle in next week's championship game but no one in the bay area cares about De La Salle. They've outgrown the local football market and play a traveling regional/national schedule during the season.

Antioch High will feature the nation's #1 ranked junior running back, Najee Harris. He is already committed to Alabama's 2017 class. Foothill high has a nasty team-oriented defense. Their only weakness is their DB's in pass coverage but that won't be an issue for them against Antioch, who will feed Najee Harris the ball early and often. Antioch high also has some very big bois on their O line. Should be a good game.

It'll be my first chance to see this Najee Harris kid. I'll come back to this thread tomorrow and update it if I see anything worth noting. Here in the Bay Area we often see top shelf QB's, WR's, and DB's, but not so much elite running backs, although the same neighborhood as Antioch High produced Joe Mixon two years ago (Oklahoma). Mixon went to a different HS.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

BTW - Antioch High is like 3 blocks from the Delta Straights (main waterway from the San Francisco Bay into the Stockton - Sacramento ports). Crazy windy! It's gonna be cold as **** out there tonight but that will only add to the game IMO.

Nice dude. Hate how good De La Salle is; think they haven't lost to a NorCal school in like 20 years or some stupid **** like that.

I have watched Harris play before the kid is the real deal. Already better than his cousin Joe Mixon

What an amazing game. Back and forth battle. Foothill goes up by two TDs in the early 4th quarter helped by three really, really poor calls by the refs that favored the rich white kids. The Antioch fans were NOT happy about that ****. lol Antioch comes back and score two 4th quarter TDs cuts the Foothill lead to 1 point. They go for the two point conversion, hand the ball to Najee Harris and he fumbles at the one yard line. Brutal ending for Antioch's season. Great win for Foothill.

Both Scout and ESPN say that Najee Harris is the best running back in the ten state west region without regard to grade and the #1 ranked junior RB in the nation. From what I saw last night, I have NO reason to doubt those conclusions. The kid is big, strong, fast and runs very very tough. He's not the natural thoroughbred that Joe Mixon was in HS but this kid has more of a work horse vibe about him.

Sadly, the Antioch high offensive coordinator ran an offense that was more simplistic than the ones I ran when I coached 115 lb. Optimist ball back in the day. They literally ran a four play offense. More than 60% of their offensive plays were to hand the ball off to Najee Harris going to the left side. There was zero creativity in the way they got the ball to this kid. It was kind of pathetic.

Did you mean you have NO reason do doubt the conclusion that he's the best 1027 RB, or that you do doubt he is?

I have NO reason to doubt those conclusions.

Good catch. My bad.
