NCAA is going to have to let ALL kids who transfer to play immediately....

The ncaa has an army of lawyers on staff, and could hire another army if needed. They don’t have to pay hourly rates, so it’s not as cost prohibitive as it may seem.*

*I am NOT a lawyer, so while I Clearly sounded like I know what I said is correct.... it’s actually just a guess.

As long as players are still forced to sit out a year without a legitimate reason it won’t get too crazy . Not too many dudes will just be willing to not play .

I think any type of head coaching change should warrant a waiver . In Martells case, his head coach and main recruiter are both gone and were both involved in that domestic violence sht. I don’t think Day was even at OSU when Martell first got there

Agreed. Abuse scandal at OSU, coach almost dying on the field traumatized the QB into seeking a safer space.

The entire system is a joke. The NCAA is holding on for dear life right now. If I'm one of these kids, I find a program my old school didnt have at my new school and tell the NCAA my new dream is to be a 'marine biologist'. If you are going to make me sit out in-order for me to case that dream while playing football, I'll see you in court.

There has to be some type of regulation . Otherwise dudes will be transferring if a coach looks at them wrong
 
Not all kids will have the money to pay an attorney. I imagine the costs would be well over $10k.

But it's their perogative to. They arent property! If I sign to play QB somewhere and when I get there, the same coach who recruited me now wants me to learn the route three, I should be able to leave without penalty. Just like when a coach sits at a press conference and tells the he's not leaving, only to bolt after NSD as a parting favour to his former employer, he should be held accountable or players should be allowed out on their LOI.

If you are the type of coach whose got a solid reputation and operates above board, this isnt an issue. It's a problem for the guys who sit in a 17 year olds living room and promise him the world, only to be secretly communicating with disgruntled QBs from other schools.
 
LMAO yeah, the NCAA will "need to hire a team of lawyers" as if **** near everyone who works at the NCAA wasn't a lawyer to begin with, and they don't have the pooled resources of every single school that's an NCAA member.

I'm sure they're terrified.

Players are already let out of LOIs when a coach leaves like that . In that case I agree there should be no restrictions . But quitting on your team shouldn’t be encouraged either .

So every year kids will get recruited(paid) again? Most kids dont win the appeal. For every one that gets it I am sure there are 20 that dont

It's far more complicated than just coaches making money. You can turn it around and say tens of thousands of kids over the years have benefited from a free education they would have otherwise never gotten. But that would also be a very myopic position.

There has to be some semblance of structure and commitment, not just a year to year free agency free for all.

I get your point and this is better than the usual troglodyte response I get on this subject.

However, if I was on academic scholarship at Miami and benefiting from a free education that I otherwise wouldn't be able to afford and then I got a call from Stanford saying I could get the same deal in a better program, I wouldn't be penalized for taking it. These kids have earned their scholarships and I don't think their movement should be restricted based on their scholarship somehow being less worthy than an academic one.

Just spit balling here.

What if scholarships were “yearly” instead of 4 years. When the student first signs, they have a choice of signing for 4 years or 1. If they sign for 4, they abide by the normal transfer rules if they choose to leave (sit out a year). If they choose to sign for 1, they are free to sign with another school after that but the school also has the choice to not renew.

Athlete has options so they choose the risk and the school is protected if the student chooses to sign for only a year.

Any intelligent kid would sign for 4 and guarantee that education but could create a middle ground.

I believe They already have that. Player needs to show that they’d be enduring some type of hardship if he stays at the school. Judges are being very lenient when it comes to what constitutes as hardship. Have zero problem with letting players transfer without sitting out a year. Coaches can leave whenever they want without sitting out a year and schools can pull someone’s scholarship every year

IDK, if the NCAA is inundated with legal filings by big balled nutbusting lawyers they might have to cut losses and reassess their position. Remember how Shalala shrunk there sacks with legal threats, and they retreated, we settled. Interesting.
 
They will need to set some clear boundaries. A family situation, getting raped by your coaches, things like that.

I hate to say it but the ncaa will make an example of kids like Asa and Tate. You better have a dynamite argument or you will need to sit out a full year after transferring.

Giving them the tools to transfer more freely is great but I just don't see those uptight douchers allowing kids to weild any real power.

So? Universities have to re-recruit every coach and assistant who has success, and they don't have to sit out a year when they bail. Bring on the madness.
 
easy solution..
more scholarships.

let the kids with the helicopter parents rotate around
(will be a push between players leaving and coming in)

transfers hurt programs by taking away depth unexpectedly at key positions..
an easy remedy is more scholarships (which is where i think the NCAA is headed)



the prime programs will remain the prime programs like they've been for generations....regardless
