According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, the NCAA is considering once again reducing the sanctions against Penn State levied in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. The Inquirer reports that Penn State, the NCAA, and state officials are negotiating proposals that include restoring the 111 wins taken away from Joe Paterno, as well as ensuring the $60 million fine Penn State has to pay stays "within the state and the university, to be used for child protection."

So to summarize:

  • In less than two seasons Penn State regained all of their 85 lost scholarships
  • 4 Year Bowl Ban was reduced to 1 year
  • Joe Paterno's wins will be reinstated into the record books
  • The financial sanctions (if they hold up in court) will circle right back into the university

It's insane what Miami had to endure for the absolute little they did and now the NCAA is bending over backwards like a Sandusky victim to take care of Penn State. Just a joke.

(I'm well aware this will devolve into an Al Golden sucks thread)

They should at least reduce the cloud , I mean that was worse than Psu sanctions.

After all that, in the 3 seasons since the sanctions were announced and actually have taken place, O'Brien went 8-4 and 7-5, and in Franklin's first year they went 7-6 with a bowl win. Yeah. Let that sink in.

Golden has gone 6-6, 7-5, 9-4 and 6-7, 0-2 in bowl games, with the loss of a few scholarships having just begun this past season. Awesome.

To recap:
PSU: 22-15 including a bowl win, in 3 seasons under heavy scholarship reduction

All Golden: 22-15 including a blowout bowl lose, in his first 3 seasons with no scholarship reductions at all.

Even more ridiculous is that it took Penn State just shy of 8 months from when the Sandusky scandal broke to get their sanctions and then less than a year and a half from getting those sanctions to having almost all of them reduced or withdrawn. We sat around for **** near 3 years waiting for a verdict.

Mark Emmert is the devil.

Raping young boys is less detrimental to a program than washing machines, steaks, and strip clubs.
