I don't know anything about this team other than they have a decent QB, so I'm curious about their Defense...

1. Are they any good?
2. Are they supposed to be better than GT's Defense?
3. How do they match up against our O?

Sorry in advance if this has already been posted and/or previously discussed...

Thanks Guys

All I really know is John Tenuta is their LB's coach. If this team is anything like the D's he coached at Georgia Tech, they rush the QB with 5-6 guys like every snap.

Their D is good, They have a very veteran DB squad that had 26 INT last year, and already has 6 to begin this year. They have a one of the top corners in the country who had 13 picks last year, he got off to a rough start this year against Tenn. as he was burnt a couple times for TDs but has bounce back the last couple weeks with a pick in each of the last 3 games. With Archer and Tenuta they loooove to challenge your pass pro and will have a blitz package and will almost always bring heat on third down. They do a good job of getting off the field as they have a 25% third down conversion and were good at this last year.

With their aggressive style they do give up a high number of 20+ yard plays so plays can be had against them. if I can think of more I will post.

Thanks guys for the info...I knew they had that corner. They kept talking about him being an AA while they were showing the highlights of him getting burnt against Tenn. But I wasn't sure how good he really is. Will our offense have trouble running against their front 7?

All I know is amerson had 13 picks last year which is like twice what our whole team got...has one in each of the last 3 games but again it was Connecticut an FCS team and a team that just switched from the FCS...he's still good though

They're ok. They can be had, as a very very average Tennessee team showed us.

I watched them play Tennessee. They bring at-least five on what seemed like EVERY play. Their rush d looked good aside from some big plays. Their d line is pretty big. The linebackers seemed to bite on play-action a good portion of the time. Emerson's obviously talented but he's certainly beatable as he was beat by two different receivers for a TD in the UT game.

Their three wins came against an FCS team and two of the worst FBS offenses around (South Alabama managed a whole 9 points and 279 total yards against Nicholls State). In addition to over 300 yards passing, Tennessee averaged 5 yards a carry against them, and I know we run the ball better than they do.

Worried about the turnovers, but I honestly think we can score 30+ even with three turnovers. The question is whether that will be enough, given our defense and the short field those turnovers would create.

Morris has had his share of defenders dropping picks so far. At the least, it sounds like these guys arent the type to drop picks. So he needs to be more accurate.

The OL just needs to move defenders off the ball so James and Duke can open these guys up.

Screens, draws and play action against that aggressive front 7. I hope we don't come out with the horizontal passing attack.
