NAME YOUR DC FOR NEXT YEAR

But Diaz will hire another Beta
That’s the biggest thing missing game day from manny. Lashlee has that fire in his belly when something isn’t right. Manny is timid and hesitant. Even when he argues with the refs he doesn’t look them in the eye or get in front. Ive seen that in plenty of ppl and dogs. That’s called *****.

Manny would never hire Pruitt or Muschamp. Their personalities are too strong
michael richards yes GIF

What's y'alls feeling on Randall Joyner on the staff next year? Yung Bull who seems to be a motivator, helped on the OSU staff, doing thangs with SMU d-line. Can he coach LB's next year and be groomed as an up and coming DC?

The problem is getting a dc that doesn’t want to chase everyone off.
A lot of the dudes mentioned on here aren’t going to want Some of the dudes on staff now.
To change everything completely and lose some ground in recruiting would be a **** of a gamble imo.

Muschamp and Strong would clean house and although some of you will want that idk of that’s such a good idea.
Just because Baker seems like it’s not working out there is absolutely dudes out there that will kill it here. Even the side at BC has his sides playing hard.

At this point I don’t care who we get at DC.

I care more about the position coaches.

We definitely need LB coach and DB Coach. Honestly wouldn’t mind upgrading the DL Coach as well.

DL - Jess Simpson (Falcons) Charlie Partridge (Pitt) or Tracy Rocker (USCjr)

LB - Brian Jean May (mich), Peterson (uscjr), Niedermyer (tenn),

DB - Fran Brown, TRob, Derrick Ansley,

Found who I want as DC.

Zach Arnett. He built a really good Defense at San Diego St in 2 years. He left SDSU after last year to join Leach at Miss St. I think we can pry him away fairly easy.

Leach teams give up a lot of points but he knows how to pick good young DCs. Prior to Arnett, he found Alex Grinch (OU DC) and Joe Salave’a (Oregon Co DC)
  • Zach Arnett enters his second season as San Diego State’s defensive coordinator and will coach the linebackers for the sixth year in a row.
  • Arnett was promoted to linebackers coach in the spring of 2014 after spending three years as a defensive graduate assistant.
  • With Arnett on staff, the SDSU defense has ranked among the nation’s best in several categories over the last five seasons, including interceptions (1st, 87), rush defense (6th, 121.1), total defense (6th, 316.4), scoring defense (9th, 19.7), turnovers forced (t-10th, 98), interception returns for touchdowns (t-10th, 11) and pass defense (11th, 195.2).
  • Last year, Arnett oversaw the emergence of Kyahva Tezino, a first-team all-Mountain West performer who led the Aztecs with 127 tackles, including a league-best 70 solo stops, which ranked 29th in the nation.
  • In 2017, Ronley Lakalaka merited second-team all-MW honors after topping the squad with 82 tackles.
  • Under Arnett’s tutelage in 2016, Calvin Munson paced the Aztecs with 116 tackles on the season and 17 quarterback hurries to go with 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and three pass breakups. Munson finished his career ranked sixth at SDSU in tackles (301) and ninth in sacks (18.0). He was a three-time all-Mountain West pick, including a first-team selection each of his last two campaigns. Munson signed as an undrafted free agent with the New?York Giants.
  • For the second straight season in 2015, two Aztec linebackers garnered all-Mountain West accolades. Munson was named to the first team, while Jake Fely was a second-team honoree.
  • Two San Diego State linebackers earned all-conference accolades in his first year as a full-time member of the coaching staff, as Munson and Josh Gavert earned honorable mention all-conference recognition in 2014.
  • Helped linebacker Nick Tenhaeff earn All-MW honorable mention recognition in 2013. Tenhaeff led the Aztecs with 15.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks and was third on the squad with 64 tackles combined, including 43 solo stops.
  • Coached two Aztecs - Fely and Derek Largent - to all-league accolades in 2012. Fely had 90 tackles, and led the team in tackles for loss (11.5), sacks (7) and forced fumbles (2) en route to second-team honors, while Largent was an honorable mention pick with 61 tackles (9.5 TFL), 6.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

Some guys I like:

-Brad White, Kentucky DC. Coached at Navy and Wake Forest before being an NFL lb coach. Get rid of Patke and Baker and have him as dc/lb. hire a st coach and new cb coach.

-Glen Schumann, lb coach and co-dc at UGA. More like an assistant dc but has been coaching and learning under great defenses with Smart and Lanning. 30/31 great up and comer worthy of a full title and awesome recruiter, bagman or not.

-Travis Williams, lb coach and assistant dc at Auburn. Learning under Steele and another very good up and comer. Probably the least seasoned but having him promoted as co DC with Steele so that’s telling so early in his career.

-Zac Arnett, dc and lb coach Mississippi State. He is a bad fit with Leach and having minimal emphasis on defense. The guy would be a great fit here and was great as DC at San Diego State several years and a lb coach for longer. Another young and good up and comer.

-finally a guy you haven’t heard of is Chad Staggs, dc and lb coach at Coastal Carolina. Was great at Charleston Southern and Furman and this year they are having great numbers though the competition is the concern. But everywhere he has been he’s done a great job.

We recently had a #1 rated defense under a guy named Manny Diaz....

I wonder if he’s available?
