Pretty sure this is a reference to Breezy's "Miami Predicted to Land MJC" article. It hasn't been deleted, it's just on page 2. But, I also happen to agree we shouldn't make articles for a single player prediction

Maybe you and I are looking at entirely different running backs. Only running backs that set the ceiling are elite ones truly elite not just simply bring number one rank number two rank number three. Nobody gives a f*** about a ranking elite is elite it's generational. That's the only running backs that are setting a ceiling is the generational ones. Because just about any running back as long as they have some explosive ability as long as they have some top end speed can be a Savage behind a elite offensive line.

Best analogy imo is like a person walking dog on a leash. The person can control the overall direction the dog goes. But the dog has some freedom of movement with the leash attached to the person walking him. The Person choosing the overall direction is the Oline. The dog is the RB. Like if they are moving left (worse/bad) to right (better/good+)… obviously where the person/Oline goes left-right sets the overall general quality of the rushing attack. Thats “the floor” in a sense. While the dog moving around the leash can take that and move even further to the right. And even if the dog moved to the left, it’s still in general can be further right/better due the person/Oline controlling the overall direction than the Oline/person going left…

Also I disagree about Elite Rb… there is a whole **** of a lot in between elite and bad, average, good, great, etc.

I think Lions with Montgomery and Gibbs is an excellent example. They had a pretty great-elite run blocking Oline (and scheme) 2yrs ago. I viewed Montgomery as an extremely capable running back, probably above good but below “great” rb. Gibbs however is an elite rb imo. Montgomery certainly was great behind the Lions oline. Enough to be the starter and lead one of top rushing outputs in league… but Gibbs behind that oline? There was a major difference in high end outcomes while still being consistently great - that’s the ceiling I’m talking about.

That’s what I’m saying. Having a Bad Oline well you’re unlikely to CONSISTENTLY have a good run game. Have a great Oline, and even a bad to average rb will do fine or even good. a good rb will do great , but a great/elite rb will have insane output behind that oline.

Consistency wise, It’s tough to have bad Rushing output from a >good OLine. It’s tough to have great rushing output from a <Average OLine.

I could legit see 4-8 from them this year. I don't think they get over 6 wins in any world, but that doesn't matter as much with first year coaches because he won't be fired.
 
I was at the neutral site game tonight between East St. Louis v Mt. Carmel who is the #1 ranked team in Illinois and going for their 5th state title in a row this year. MJC got hurt in the second quarter and was in street clothes the rest of the night. He appeared to be holding his elbow or arm when I saw him leave the field and walking slowly off the field. Before that happened he had some nice runs and was even showing off his hands with some nice receptions out of the backfield. He did have one run that had people in the crowd asking what he was doing, in the first quarter a huge hole opened up to his right with his speed he may have scored, but he tried to bounce it outside even further and was stuffed for a short gain.

The best player in the field was uncommitted Marshaun Thornton a Jr wide receiver for Mount Carmel. He was making several contested catches, had 2 touchdowns and a kickoff return TD. He kept them in the game.His teammate receiver Quentin Burrell is a Michigan commit he was kept in check for the most part.

I was there too. Thought it was over once Carmel went up 23-14. ESTL always seems to compete with the nationally ranked teams but always come up short with mental mistakes. Glad they got over the hump and took it to Mt Carmel in the 4th quarter. Raheem Floyd (DB on ESTL who had the pick 6) is committed to Florida. I’d say I wish Miami went after him harder but they already have their studs locked up at that position.

They come down here next week to play American Heritage .
