We are literally building it that way now just look at the roster. The more hs talent they bring in the less you are going to see them use the portal. The teams that are consistently in the running don’t build through the portal like uga and osu

That is the plan and has always been the plan, my point is that we are going into year 5 and it has not worked thus far. It’s okay though, whatever gets it done.

Going back to some earlier comments, I think it’s very reasonable to wonder whether UM will ever sign a 5star or borderline 5star RB under Mario. Not because we don’t use RB’s correctly, and not because we don’t put RB’s in the NFL (Fletcher is going to start an annual run for UM in next year’s draft).

But rather because Mario does not put the same NIL value on RB’s as other programs. NIL allocation will vary from team to team. Just as salary cap allocation varies in the NFL. There are many, many NFL teams that will not draft an RB in the 1st round because they don’t believe an RB should take up as much of the salary cap as a 1st round RB would demand.

So expect us to do well at Oline and Dline and secondary.
We don’t seem to allocate as much on RB’s and LB’s (I’m not expecting Henderson for this reason). It’s a financial philosophy, right or wrong.
QB is interesting and we will see how that plays out because before Abrams, we seemed content to go to the portal to pay QB’s.

I mean, you look around the league, you watch the playoffs, nobody had a dominant RB besides maybe Ole Miss. But teams with dominant OL/DL were clearly more successful.

Jeremiah Love was the first RB taken and we all clown Notre Dame and the impact he actually had.

And that's not to say I wouldn't love another great RB, it's just that if this is a bidding war I can understand why you wouldn't want to get caught up in it.

To pass on Miami for a few $$$ is short sited on his part. Playing behind an elite OL is more important at this level than more money.

The real $$$ comes at the next level in the second contract.

Poysner, Lucas, Thorton, EOC, Toure, Wilson, Mensah, Barkate, and Vaughn. I count 9 with numerous more playing heavy minutes. We are a meh team without the portal.

Like IMO Auburn is giving him Fletcher current money, and Mario is not going to do that.

If we are offeriing 800K Auburn is offering xlose to double no RB coach is going to make a difference.

You going to have to pay up, if you recruit them like they are that important (which we are they are high priority's) then get it done. Cause if you recruiting them as such that you believe in them then show them you believe in them, worst case if they stink they can transfer and you can use the portal to fill that need. Better to have them then not to have them. I will never cope for the staff if we lose this dude and Matthews I will be a part of the meltdown.

We didn’t get to add as many transfers as we wanted. Only 1 transfer window this year and we were playing all the way through it. Best believe if there was a second window we would be shopping

I doubt it. It was already said they weren’t bringing in many guys. The numbers has gotten lower every year

O'Conner is not that good. Vaughan is a good player but our staff LOVES Josh Moore. They think hes an elite talent when healthy.

Im not high on Moore as far as separation goes, he reminds me of Malachi Fields, he can make crazy catches while covered but his route tree to me so far seems ok. He is a freak but being a freak and being a technically sound wr are two different things. I do like him for what he is and what his role will be but I dont expect him to be Andre Johnson. He's good but I think people are expecting him to be all world and he's not imo.

Yes he was. But not like our tench guys . Big ,fast 4 star rb too not a 5 star diva . A rb needs to comprehend without a wall in front of them esp in the sec your career will be short lived . Go from a 5 star stud to a mediocre rb in college . Pounding out those 2 yard runs. You might have Broke 3 tackles and ran over people to get the two yard . The stats and nfl will see only two yards

Let’s talk about this come the fall. I maintain both will start. ****, EOC was already starting last year. Vaughn will start as well, Moore has proven nothing and just got injured. LOL

That’s weird, cause we’ve actually went to the portal more year after year. 11 in 22, 15 in 23, 16 in 24 and 20 in 25. We had 13 just this year and that’s in what felt like just a week. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think we wouldn’t have taken anything out the portal with a second window after spring ball.
