When you, as you say, "overpay for these two guys", then what do you do with Toney and Cantwell when they see they are getting much less?
Isn't this the childish mindset that USC, Texas AM, FSU, etc. have and then everyone wonders why their culture is bad, they have locker-room issues and lack of motivation and effort in the face of adversity and seem to always underachieve their recruiting rankings and expectations?

Doesn’t matter for RBs. You have a point on QB and WR because of the scheme and what routes they have you run/throw. But a RB is a RB. Every team runs essentially the same run concepts at times.

Matthews is a local kid at a much bigger position of need. He’s higher ranked. That’s a must-get. That would be a HUGE miss.

This kid is a miss. But it’s not on the same floor as Matthews. Maybe not even in the same building.

It’s not the way

The portal has saved Mario from disaster two years in a row though. I’m not hating on it, it almost got us a chip and I think we are the best team in the country but let’s not kid ourselves.

It’s ok to supplement through the portal but I don’t agree that you build your team through it for sustained success. The portal classes have gotten smaller every year. They brought in 12 guys this cycle and 2 were kickers. I’m expecting possibly even smaller next year
