4-star ’27 ATH Myson Johnson-Cook

Myson Johnson-Cook has a rare combination of size and speed and is getting looks on both sides of the ball. He’s currently rated the No. 39 player nationally ink the Rivals Industry Ranking.

“The schools recruiting me the hardest right now are Missouri, Ole Miss and Miami,” Johnson- Cook said. “I don’t have any visits set yet but I want to try and get to Ole Miss January 31.

“My interest in Ole Miss is really high because of Frank Wilson. LSU was my leader but when coach Wilson came over to Ole Miss, my interest in them picked up.”

Miami and Missouri will get visits as well.

“I like coach Cristobal and I like how Miami runs the ball,” Johnson-Cook said. “They like big backs, Mark Fletcher is a big back and that’s my style too.

“I have good relationships at Missouri. I moved to Illinois and Mizzou is just over the bridge and I’ve gotten to be really close with the staff there. I want to take 3-4 official visits and then lock in my commitment in the summer.”

Being in National BIG games and having Brand name players :u5pyxda:

After one year in Texas, five-star junior running back Myson Johnson-Cook, a highly touted prospect across all major recruiting services and a participant in the Navy All-American Bowl and a Polynesian Bowl invite, is returning to where it all began - the state of Illinois.

Per his Instagram, the elite running back/linebacker has announced his transfer from DeSoto High School in Texas to East St. Louis High School in Illinois for the 2025 football season. It will be a homecoming of sorts. He played his freshman year at Decatur MacArthur in Illinois

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 203 pounds, he was a key contributor for the Eagles, a perennial Texas powerhouse. During his sophomore 2024 season, he showcased his capabilities by rushing for 911 yards on 88 carries, averaging an impressive 10.4 yards per attempt, and scoring 14 rushing touchdowns in 14 games. In limited opportunities catching the ball, he added 4 receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.

Despite his strong production, Johnson-Cook - clocked at 4.39 in the 40 - found himself in a deep backfield at DeSoto, a team that finished the 2024 season with an 11-3 record, averaging 52.4 points per game.

They lost because they decided to keep passing instead of leaning on a run game that had amassed almost 300 yards in the game.
I was thinking their other rb Coleman must be pretty solid to take carries away from MJC. Yeah seems like their own play-calling stopped the running game. 🤦🏽‍♂️ He’ll have another chance at states soon enough.

Sidebar, his 10.3-10.45 100M time is surreal! Interested to see if he can best it this spring

A standout sprinter, Johnson-Cook was a Texas 6A 100-meter regional qualifier at DeSoto, posting wind-aided times of 10.30, 10.33 and 10.42, per MileSplit, and ran a wind-legal 10.45 100.

His slowest recorded performance is a 10.62. His 4x100 team almost broke the 40 second barrier

Wind is little over the allowable for legal time. I think it would probably be around 10.5. Thats still fast as **** for a 220 6'3 RB. Its like Xavier Lucas but much heavier.

He’s def besting Xavier in a foot race rn. Xavier’s senior track year had a much wider range of times.

MJC ran a 11.5 as a 7th grader and a 10.97 as an eighth grader. That’s different
