You don't get a like for this, you get the full rep. We have Dalvin against FSU, and we win that game, 100%. The only part I disagree with is that you still need Xs and Os. It's not as important in CFB but you still need competent guys there. Jimbo is good at that, but not only that he is smart enough to hire the right guys. Look at the game against them, they adjusted, they denied what was there in the first half. Their guys adjusted and we didn't. That being said in the end it was Jalen Ramsey and more importantly Dalvin. The foundation starts with recruiting. Cause good Xs and Os gets you a Cutliffe coached Duke team with no talent. Elite recruiting with no Xs and Os gets you Auburn with Cam and Fairly under Chizik. Then you talk about Michael Jackson, like you said how are we going into Bama to grab DBs? Saban is first and foremost a DB coach and we are going to grab someone he could care less about in his own state? Not only that but DBs grow trees in SFLA, but wait it gets better, this year in SFLA is the best in over 10 years.
Lastly I'm a white guy that hates when people play the race card, but you gotta call it how it is. How is this guy still around? How can you justify to keep him around when the guy before was already fired at this point? Then you add the fact that Randy played here and coached here. How isn't this racist? The worst part is yet to come IMHO, this will just be more ammo for our opponents, and they are already loaded to begin with.
Wait... So the only thing Miami needed to beat FSU this year was Miami having Dalvin Cook at running back???
Of course, there is a minimum threshold of talent that a program must have to be able to win. No one is arguing that point. For example, FAMU could have the greatest Xs and Os coach in the world but that still would not be enough to overcome a talent disparity against a top 25 team.
The issue is that once you are at or surpass that minimum threshold, you have to good coaching to win. Miami is well past this threshold. Talent is not why this years Miami's football team is losing. Miami has more than enough talent to beat every team on the schedule. Sadly, Miami only has enough coaching to win 6 games. You could give Golden 10 Dalvin Cooks and 10 Jalen Ramseys and he would still lose 3-4 games.
There is more to the problem than just missing on Cook, but if we land Cook we beat them this year. The statement is in response to all of those that use the mantra that 'one player doesn't change a team'. That mantra is also funny because when speaking about FSU, those same will then in turn use that mantra and say FSU would suck if it wasn't for one player in Winston. I have been very open in criticism of the staff from an Xs and Os aspect but the foundation ultimately is recruiting. It is why we were able to win a ship under Larry Coker because that team did have 10 Jalen Ramseys and 10 Dalvin's Cooks. Like my example with Chizik and Cutliffe, elite talent can cover up bad coaching and take you to the elite level. Finally read my post, the one thing I disagreed with the OP was that Xs and Os do matter even though they are not as important as the players at this level.
We win with cook period, when duke goes out cook takes over. Fsu never gets the ball back we eat clock.
Cook doesn't get tripped up on that draw play that Yearby did late in the game for sure. There were a couple times where Yearby found the crease but was taken down by an arm tackle. Dalvin would not have been tackled there. Also FSU is completely one dimensional without Cook....
