My updated Depth Chart with new signed players - give input

I have only two active concerns with this roster:

OL: We have a ton of bodies, but the talent level is questionable. **** poor unit this year. I'm hopeful that with that many bodies, Richt and Searles can cobble together a decent two-deep.

CB: Painfully thin. Love Elder. Was high on Redwine out of HS, but we didn't see much of him except on ST last year, so who knows? I think Young contributes immediately, out of sheer necessity. Mayes is slow and wasn't highly recruited. Henley has elite speed, but was less recruited than Mayes. Just so, so, so thin. I don't understand how Folden let us get that thin, and my biggest disappointment with this 2016 class was Richt's inability to land one or two more decent CBs.

As for the RB situation -- we have a lot of very good talent, but we don't know if we have that truly top-notch "guy." Edwards or Yearby could be that guy, but we don't know -- Edwards got hurt after showing improvement the prior season and having a reportedly impressive camp, and although Yearby played, he was running behind that porous wall of flub, constantly touched behind the LOS.

The starting WRs will play a lot, but I feel good about the talent level there. Our freshman WR haul is one of the best in the nation, and freshmen WRs regularly contribute.

Richt likes to incorporate the FB in his offense IMO Gus would be perfect fit at FB (we know he can run, he's big enough to block, and athletic enough to catch. Also Don't sleep on Redwine or Johnson
Great job, El. Very helpful.

You've got Gus as our 4th option at RB. Wouldn't shock me if he moves to number 1 or 2. Similarly, I think Milo gets a shot at RT to compete with Sunny. We need help at OT.

Where do you get that right likes a FB in his offense?

You never seen a Georgia game?

DT - solid first team, but need depth. this position should be primary focus of recruiting

We need to see production instead of just flashes, but I bet there aren't 15 teams in America with a more talented top 5 DT group than Norton, Jenkins, Willis, Moten, McIntosh.

I'd like to see more than 5 teams who have a better top 5 at DT. 5 future NFL players who, except Willis for non-football reasons, have played meaningful snaps.

The Tackle and Guard situations are alarming as of right now. It'd be less so if Darling were slotted as a Guard or St. Louis would develop as a LT.

Ive seen plenty of Georgia games....

You know why richt wanted to leave Georgia? because he wanted to call his own plays in his own offense.

How many Fullbacks georgia produce in Richts first seven years?

How many fullbacks FSU produce when richt was calling plays?

Then ill ask again.... What makes you think Richt likes to " incorporate" a FB in his offense?

Near the goal line and in short yardage the Fullback was key for F$U for many , many years. They would get carries, get key blocks and even catch the ball on play action passes.

I think Richt is gonna fall in love with Gus.. Big physical back like he had a GA.. but I think Joe will be the starter... also the OL will take a step forward under the new coaching.

If Gus is 100 percent, I can see him starting and being a broke man's Chubb with Yearby and Walton as Sony&Marshall in Richt's offense. Willis will start, beast. Finley, JJackson and Young will not redshirt. Shaq will start over JYoung, watch. All three incoming receivers will contribute. Langham and Lewis won't contribute much. Choc will be playing a different position . .

A broke mans Chubb? **** that man must be dirt ****ing poor, in the hole millions of dollars, and ready to commit suicide. That is an insult to Chubbs game seeing as Gus runs like a ****.

Yeah Gus and Chubb are no comparison but what I meant to say is that I believe they would use Gus the way they used Chubb. Gus is a big athletic back that could probably do some big things with a good rb coach. I think Brown can really do some big things with Yearby and Walton though.

I'm not sold that the former or current coaching staff is as high on Gray as this board seems to be. I think he has talent, but he is behind the 3 others, and to be honest Homer may be better.

Homer pretty clearly more talent already than that random no body this board loves so much.

I actually like what our defensive side of the ball looks like personnel wise....they need to gel together now. This defense could be lights out if they are allowed to go hunt.

i think maleek young could get some playing time at corner right away if henley or mayes are not ready to step up

he could step in for redwine if he is not playing well but i think redwine will actually do a nice job, but maleek could play the nickel to along with jaquan or henley with the speed that he has

im happy with jamal carter and jaquan starting at safety or rayshawn jenkins

I think Rayshawn Jenkins is a starter. People are really sleeping on this dude. I think he will flourish in this defense.

A lot of people seem to be worried about Depth at Wideout, but i don't see Coach taken our TE Position off the field since it is one of our strongest spots. So i see us having 3 spots open with 8 Wr fighting for them, also we will be using Rb's in the passing game more also which will help the depth at Wr

Sam Bruce, Stacy coley, David Njoku, Lawrence Cager, Ahmmon Richards, Joe Yearby, Mark Walton, with Kaaya at QB. This offense is going to be fun to watch

In all fairness, how many new starters were in there last year? I think with pretty much the whole unit coming back, they should improve. Also, with X-Box Coley gone from calling plays, we might be surprised what a REAL play caller can make these kids look like.

The OL is a mess.

Outside of Linder and Isidora, I don't feel confident in anyone based off their play last year.

William McCray

Richt utilized the FB at FSU

Everyone knew entering last season that the OL was a work in progress.

Gall was bad. Thankfully he was replaced by McDermott, However, KC is less than a year removed from being cleared to practice after knee surgery...so he wasn't 100% last season. We all knew that would be the case.

Sonny is literally still learning how to play football, but most agree that he was better than expected.

Linder is still developing. He's a smart, tough kid.

Darling replaced a first rounder at LT as a true sophomore. There was a logical negative drop at that position

Yes, our running game was below average, but he play-calling had a lot to do with it.

The fact is that we finished 8th in the country in fewest tackles for loss allowed, and the OL gave up fewer than 20 sacks.

We played against three of the top 10 sack leaders in the country.

Everyone loves to bring up the one play where Gall pushes Shaq Lawson into Kaaya and use that as evidence that the OL stunk the entire season. That meme is played out.

We should expect the line to be much better with the new training program, an experienced play caller, and another year of experience.

The OL doesn't concern me.

Gayot SLB? What are you thinking? Do you know what a strongside Linebacker is? This kid is a nice player but used to be a safety. The SLB as you call him or SAM, is typically a big, long run stopper that can get in the backfield too.
