I posted this already on the Game Day Board but the mods didn't move it so I'm re-posting.

I've loved Golden since the day he was hired. But tonight gave me real reason to worry.

We just had no pride whatsoever. It looks like some guys just don't care. We made no adjustments. No strategic changes.

I went back and listened to what Jason Whitlock said when Golden was hired:
"Not a good game day coach." "Nothing special about his scheme." "Makes very questionable strategic decisions."

And I'm afraid I now think he's right.

Al is a great guy and a relentless recruiter but I think his scheme and coaching deficiencies will prevent us from ever being elite again. We can be a good team under him; beat up on poor teams, win some close games. But we'll never be the top dogs.

And that's a bitter pill to swallow.

i think the dummy at qb has hurt our team. early on they did very well with strategy against florida and then readjusting after the first quarter with ga tech. We are not on fsu level yet but i think this defense has declined just as must as the offense because morris cant keep them off the field. our defense has been run into the ground. tonight was a freaky night but honestly, i am upset but va tech is always a tough game. we need to get back on track but we are still not there yet. This recruiting class is key.

Morris played well enough for us to win last night. He wasn't spectacular but he was decent. It didn't help that Waters dropped 2 TD's.

The focus should be on Golden and the defense.

Golden is an awful x's and o's and gameday coach.

He'd make a great PR specialist, or a killing selling used Buicks somewhere in Hoboken, but this isn't the guy to take Miami where it wants to go.

Considering the weather and poor play calling, Morris was spectacular last night. Had Coley let him throw occasionally on first down with VT stuffing the box, Morris would have been even better. As bad as coley was last night, the loss was on one man and one man only--Dorito

We can only pray that he decides to overhaul his scheme. But I won't count on that happening at all. We are mediocre or worse for another decade

That ****** isn't letting go of his scheme. He's the smartest guy in the room with the bend don't break philosophy remember. I mean it takes a true genius mind to come up with the "if I let teams march to the red zone I can only hope they will make a mistake"

Yards don't matter remember

This is horse****. If anything, the offense is bring hurt by the D. They never get a short field and regularly get asked to drive 80+ yards to score. The D is worn out because the ****** coordinator and head coach favor a scheme that allows offenses to march down the field until they ( hopefully) make a mistake.

nystateofmind I want coordinators who are, one, already game day ready, no 1 or 2 years to figure it out, and two, who understand the kids that make up our base. No more hand holding super soft anything - offense or defense. That is not our program and frankly it's not the football played in SF. Sick of being pushed around on both sides of the ball. Sick of not having an offensive identity. Beyond sick of our defense. Sick of seeing guys who should be cheerleaders getting meaningful minutes. Ride our best players until we can recruit more like them to help them.

I think if we lose out, Golden is forced to make changes.

George McDonald for OC, anyone?

So GMac is out?

Heres what I would do..

-I say Jethro is out. Not much needed to be said here. Cant have him ruin the development of another class. Too much riding on the development of AQM, CThomas, Deme Jackson, Valentine, Jenkins, Wyche, and possibly Moten.

-Donofrio "resigns sighting family reasons". Will be a "team consulstant" for Temple. Al needs to "Bill Miller" this guy. Cant go down with the ship. This season was a failure. I will be saying this alot today...THIS WAS VTECHS WORSE TEAM IN YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND WE STILL COULDNT BEAT THEM!!! SMH.

-I say Kehoe gets a "promotion" to Director of UM Community/Alumni Relations. Keep Kehoe in the program somehow but give him a suit and tie job. But he has to go. Potentially this was our best OL in years and they just didnt live up to it. Whats sad is that most of the guys on the OL will have 10+ playing years in the NFL I bet.

-Demote Barrow. Make him Goldens "special defensive assistant". Our LBs have been a joke for too long. Time to bring in someone who can coach them. No way we let Barrow ruin the "Beast like" potential of Darrion Owens, Juwon Young, Jermaine Grace, and Alex Figs. These next few years for Golden are too important. Gotta bring in someone else.

I know none of this will happen but a man can dream. I just think we have too much talent coming in to have some of the guys on this staff F it up.

While Golden is the CEO and will take some of the burden and criticism, my main concern is AG's ability to make a tough decision and let go of a friend. Coach D has not proven that he can be successfull here. This defense is horrible. We have made average QB's/teams look like juggernauts. How the **** Logan Thomas and that weak offense put up 500 yds? How the **** have we given up 500+ yds 8 or more times? This guy has to go. If he does not, we WILL NOT be successfull.

Also, I am tired of the "next yr..." talk...fug that we had a chance this yr. Yes our offense has struggled but **** Defense wins games, defense wins championships...and that ant never gonna happen with coach dorito here!!! He has got to go AL!!!!! AG either fires his friend or allows the ship he has been working so hard to salvage to go down in flames.

This is not on Morris, so you all can stop blaming him. Even if he is so awful, whose job is it to have coached him up and have another player waiting if he sucks? Who calls the same dumbass plays - that never work - over and over? That's not Morris, but is on this staff.

You think this is a bottom up problem, when it is really a top down problem. The assistants follow the lead of the head coach. Kehoe does with the Oline what Al wants him to do. Jethro and Barrow teach what Dorito wants them to teach. I am still on board with Al, but he needs to change some of his ways.
