1) the defense is better. . all in all they played pretty well and I feel good about them. we only gave up 336 total yards even though we had several 3 and outs on offence, we got some pressure on the qb and had several sacs created 2 sac fumbles very deep in their territory. I thought our run defense was good.

2) Most of the blame goes to the offensive line in my book. the pass blocking was terrible, just terrible. as bad as the pass blocking was It paled in comparison to the run blocking. I wonder how many times our rb's were gang tackled behind the line

3) brad kaaya - I am glad the future has begun. I think he did ok given the fact that he got a beating from the first snap and he was pressured far to often. he will only get better

I know the many of is are ****ed with good reason but a play here and there we would not be feeling like crap. coley dosent fumble and we have a very different game, no penalty on the duke pass and we could have had an exciting finish. most of is knew this was gonna be a tough game and that the chances of going undefeated were low, especially when we had so many questions. We do have 2 games to shore up the o-line before we need to face Nebraska. we win in Nebraska and thing get exciting again.......... quickly.

I am still excited given the improvement of our defense and knowing that our qb will only get better. if we can shore up our o-line we will be a problem. go canes.

Mrs. Golden, you really should get some rest. Your **** isn't going to pack itself.

If there is a silver lining to all of this, I do agree that our defense played much better than at any point last year. So there's that.

But.....but... we can still win the Coastal!

LOL! I bet the OP is a registered Democrat.

we will lose to Nebraska, Duke, FSU , VTECH , Virgnia and maybe Cinci. We will win the next two games given some of the slurpers high hopes than the bottom will fall out from under us again.

If we had this D with the O from 2012, we'd be pretty good. Coley needs to be a position coach, and let him recruit. He's got value, but NOT as an OC. That play calling was atrocious.

The only benefit from last night is that it lets us pinpoint the problem with this team--and, to be clear, that's only a benefit if Al (or someone above him) has the stones to see the problem and then correct it.

And the problem is the offensive coaching staff. Coley is probably a textbook case of the Peter Principle. He's been promoted to the level of his incompetence. Just because he is good at recruiting doesn't mean he's competent to handle the reins for the offense. We all knew Louisville would stack the box, and dare us to throw over the LBs. Coley blinked and threw a bunch of screens that netted us negative yards and a costly turnover--that is not only bad football, it is also not in keeping with our traditions. The U does not blink in the face of direct challenges, historically. And so we were abysmal on first, second, and especially third down, and that put too much pressure on a D that, to be fair, played above expectations. Offensive efficiency was a problem last year, they had all offseason to clean it up, and they did not.

Staffing problems of this nature rarely get better with time, so it may be time to make a change. Let's see how the next three games go and if it's not getting better, then let's make the change then, rather than in the offseason, because to wait is to waste time--and time is at a premium with the likes of Duke, Coley, Dorsett, even Kaya. They are only here for a finite amount of time and we need to maximize what we can get out of them. This staff is obviously not doing that.
