Quick take:
1. I don’t think Jarren played that poorly. I thought he looked pretty good with plenty of positives to build on. He throws a good ball, didn’t make a ton of errors in the passing game, and will learn when to throw it away, mess with the snap count, and carry the ball more safely. I saw a lot of positives.
2. Hard for Enos to call a game when he’s getting murdered on down and distance because the OL was playing so poorly and the penalties were stacking up. A few dropped balls didn’t help either. There aren’t many people, college or pro, who can overcome that.
3. OL is bad, Campbell worse than Nelson. Though they’re young and inexperienced, the entire line looked bad, including the more seasoned guys. We need to build there and make it a priority.
4. 14 penalties is a nightmare. Very messy. Manny and Enos/ OL coach have to clean that up. 118 yds on penalties, or something like it, along with giving up double digit sacks, makes it nearly impossible to win.
5. STs lost the game at the most critical moments- missed FG and dropped punt inside the 10. Can’t do that. It’s been a consistent problem ever since Soldinger left, ie it’s been a problem for years. I wish Manny would take over coaching STs, similar to what Meyer used to do.
6. I liked the fact that we didn’t throw in the towel. We kept at it. We looked conditioned. The team didn’t appear that gassed.
7. Brevin Jordan is special. Mallory has a ways to go. A few dropped passes were disappointing.
8. Would like to see JT4 get more touches.
9. Running game is limited. I don’t think it’s the RBs. It’s the OL.
10. We need to stack classes. We are still a few years away imo, but I don’t think the sky is falling mostly because I like Manny and like Jarren. I think we can build on them.
