I thought I heard during the game Mark state that he does live down here, was very familiar with Miami, Carol City, the different high schools, etc. He also said his wife was a UM alum, Law School grad, I believe he said.
 
Dean got abused all night. Otherwise the defense played well. My only criticism would be that they frequently over pursue and take too long to react/recover to screen passes.

OL is bad but I’m starting to think it’s more the play calling than talent. Once we lost all of our TEs, Richt was forced to abandon his power running game that is never there to begin with. We started getting the ball to our play makers in space and the running plays were quick hitters instead of slow developing stretch plays. Suddenly the OL didn’t look like a complete train wreck when the play calling got less predictable.

Perry was better than his stat line would indicate (which wasn’t bad by any stretch). Too many dropped passes.
 
Hey fellas, don't drink the Kool-Aid. I'm not trying to be a party pooper here, but without the 2 long punt returns from JT4 (for a TD and the other set up the final TD) and the Quarterman INT giving the offense the ball on the 3 for an easy score, I'm not sure the outcome of this game would've been the same. All this win does is continue to mask our shortcomings. Offense was better today but still below average in my opinion. Defense was stellar after the 1st quarter and the play from our special teams was good for a change. As much as I'd like to believe Miami takes down Pitt next Saturday at the Rock, I doubt it. I'm afraid all today showed us was just how bad Virginia Tech is and not how much improved we are.

That's what a Miami defense & special teams is supposed to do, put the offense in advantageous position, nobody was thinks its was the Chiefs or Rams out there
 
Dean is a waste of space. They should make him wear number 42 or something for senior day. Or just honor him but not letting him see the field.

Not sure how realistic it is to expect our ST or D to come up with scores every game or to spot the offense prime field position on a consistent basis. Point I was trying to make in my previous post is that there are still glaring issues with this team, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. And not to think any of that has changed because we got a W today.

Your write ups are better then any journalist out there. Love your recap, more so after a win.
I love Bandy’s game. That TD saving tackle he had on the opening series, where he ran around JJ4, and got hurt was pure unadulterated hustle.. though he might not have the best measurables, that kid plays way above his size. Love his game! Love seeing plays and effort like that, plays in the middle of the game that you stop and say, did you just see that.

Good summary. So, I don't begrudge Dean his turn with the turnover chain on that late 4th down INT. But if he just batted it to the ground instead of running it to the 10, it would have been Miami ball on the 38! - (I'd be happy to give him an "honorary" turnover chain for heads-up thinking!)

Poor guy, even when he's done well, it's wrong. Should've batted it down. LOL!!!
 
Happy we won. Always nice to win in Blacksburg.

Biggest takeaway/reflection is how inexplicably bad it was to pull Perry against UVA. Cost us 2 to 3 games of invaluable development time on the field.

It took losing both TEs to get this guy to open up the playbook a little.

This was an aberration and an abortion of Bud Foster VT defense. I hope they don't look at this as validation of what they're doing offensively.

All on field playcallers have a person upstairs relaying, charting the D or just communicating from a birds eye view..man the conspiracies are out lol

I was asking myself where the **** this offense has been all season and why it took until game 11 to bring it out. Hadn't thought of that possibility but it is an interesting one. If your theory is correct, sign me up for TB calling plays for the next 2 games as an audition.
