My Post Game recap

If some of you are only waiting till we win a title to enjoy canes football....you will have a hard time watching the team. We are on a journey. Every canes team that won anything went through a process. If we recruit elite players and classes we will be fine. Those 12pm away games are hard no matter who you play, those are the games top teams get upset at.

Does Mark Pope get on the field? I’ve seen a lot of Hightower and a decent amount of Ezzard and Wiggins. Pope was thought as the best coming in. Curious as to why we haven’t seen much of him.

He got in on the last drive with N’Kosi but I’m perplexed why he isn’t playing much either

I know in 2016 & 2017 they actually had top 10 recruiting classes, but a lot of those prospects were highly overrated & haven't performed well at all.

I think they may have landed some high rated prospects, but none of them were on the OL & they haven't had a good WR since the Jameis era.

I think it's mainly been Coaching for them this season, Taggart doesn't seem to have the ability to motivate a locker room full of "me-first" type players that really haven't bought into a team concept. From what I've seen, they play like they just don't care like they could give a f*ck about winning or losing lol.

They give up quick & have no heart. That's why I think we should beat them big time this year, they not ready for War bruh. You can see it when once they get down by a score or two, they just tuck it in like "Fck this, time to go home!".

FSU always gets up for us. It would not surprise me if they made it a good game. Our inconsistency on both sides of the ball concerns me.

Our inconsistency worries me as well, but FSU is so bad this year I think this is the year where it's not unrealistic to expect a big win for us.

Any other year I wouldn't even consider it, but FSU has just about already quit on Taggart, on the road @ The Rock we should dominate, similar to what we did vs Notre Dame & FSU.

Not arguing with your points. I agree. Worst FSU team in my lifetime (35 years old). But my head tells me not to buy into it. FSU will give us fits. Rosier plays like **** vs. anyone with a pulse and Diaz is his own worse enemy. If Miami can score early then it could get ugly fast. However, we rarely start off hot though. Plus, we are wearing the Green uniforms so you know what that means......jk.

That defense at FSU doesn’t have a pulse, I’m worried what Diaz will do vs FSU who offense has been atrocious

News flash it’s not the 80s or the 90s. In case you just woke up from your Crio-Freeze. We’ve been trash for a decade and now in college football it’s all about style points whenever you can get them. Talent is spread out everywhere and we shouldn’t take any FBS opponent for granted.

lol. tell that to bama and osu

The classic CIS forum type who can't manage to say a thing about this program without somehow mixing an element of negativity into it.

To be fair, anything objective about the program the last 15 years is going to have negativity mixed in...

The FSU game will be close, I fully expect Rosier to struggle in that game and make it come down to the wire.

I agree they do have that ****** attitude but their Corch deserves a lot of the blame for that. They needed someone to come in, be all about business and instill a professional work mentality. Instead they have a Corch preaching “fun” and preparing them for dance parties and ice cream socials. This is not going to end well and it will be glorious to watch. We should beat them decisively.

Offense:
Malik Rosier - 13/23 205yds 2TD's 8att 80yds 3TD's rushing
Deejay Dallas - 17att 110yds 1TD
Travis Homer - 16att 62yds
Jeff Thomas - 5rec 105yds 1TD 1att 19yds rushing
Lawrence Cager - 3rec 67yds 1TD
Darrell Langham - 2rec 23yds
Choc Gray - 3att 6yds 1TD

Offense gained 474yds total on 73 plays 6.6ypp with 268yds rushing. 7/15 on 3rd down.

Offense stepped up & balled out today, after receiving heavy criticism they absolutely came to play. They dominated time of possession 35:29 to Toledo's 24:31.

Malik Rosier had one of his best games vs Toldeo last year & today was no different. He really played well & carried this team to victory. He made some really nice throws, especially in the 3rd quarter that comeback route to Cager on 3rd & 9 was very nice precise ball.

He also killed it running the ball, I believe that should be a staple of this offense going forward. Malik shouldn't be asked to throw it 30+ times a game, he should get 25 throws & 10-15 runs every game, that opens up the run game for Deejay & pulls those Safety's back in the passing game.

Deejay is a great dynamic weapon & is emerging as a very consistent runner. Both he & Homer played well today. Deejay needs more touches as the season progresses, whether in the run game or in the passing game, he's electric with the ball in his hands & has gamebreaking homerun ability.

The OL finally woke up & provided great Run blocking at the point of attack, they opened up some really nice lanes for Deejay & Homer.

JT4! Jeff Thomas is a BEAST! He's our best offensive weapon, I love the reverse he ran today & the fact he's now been put in position as our #1 WR & he's filled that role perfectly. The kid's got lighting quick speed & can't be covered by anyone one on one, once he gets those turbo boosters sparked up on his cleats he's gone! He's gonna score in every game we play this season, as long as we keep feeding him he should have an All-ACC season. He's our version of Tyrek Hill.

Defense:
- Jaquan Johnson 7tcks total
- Mike Smith 6tcks 1TFL
- Gerald Willis 5tcks 3TFL's
- Sheldrick Redwine 5tcks 1sack & 1TFL
- Michael Pinckney 5tcks 2TFL's
- Shaquille Quarterman 5tcks .05TFL's
- Scott Patchan 3tcks 1sack & 1TFL
- Trajan Bandy 3tcks 1TFL & 1INT
- Joe Jackson 3tcks 1.5TFL
- Romeo Finley 3tcks 1PD

Defense gave up 334yds total 113yds rushing & 221yds passing. With 13TFL's, 4sacks & 1INT.

Defense played well in the 1st half holding Toledo to just 64yds rushing, but as soon as Jaquan went down they completely fell apart.

The very first play Bobby Knowles came in the game Toledo immediately recognized it & threw right at him. They were salivating as soon as they seen #20 out there. IDGAF what the issue is, NO MORE KNOWLES! He shouldn't see the field for anything more than Special Teams this year, not another significant snap the rest of the season.

I hope Quan is okay & healthy, but if he's not Gurvan Hall, Amari Carter, Rome Finley, Derrick Smith or **** even Gilbert Frierson need to play ahead of Knowles. Under no circumstances whatsoever should Knowles be in the field unless it's the last possession of the game vs FIU.

Liked what I saw from G Willis, Rome Finely made some plays in coverage early & Pinckney played better this week. Bandy made a great pick as well, he's really a great corner for us.

Overall this Defense gave up too many big plays in the 2nd half & those Zone Blitzes are going to kill us in ACC play, every Blitz we ran they audible & ran the play to the exact spot where the Blitz was coming from. Better teams will pick us apart with that. Diaz needs to be reevaluated at the end of the season, his Defense is just too inconsistent.

I predicted that we would win 44-17 & we did what were we supposed to do against a G5 team with far lesser talent than us. With FIU coming up that'll be another blow out too, but the real test starts with ACC play. UNC & FSU are literally the 2 WORST teams in the ACC, rivalry games or not we should steamroll both of them @ Home.

That'll tell us where this team really is, we can't have close games with those teams we need to put them away in the 1st half & keep our foot on their necks in the 2nd. Neither one of them have the talent we do, we can turn this season around after the LSU debacle with 2 convincing victories vs UNC & FSU.

I'm hopeful we'll get it done. Great Win for the Canes!

I just finished rewatching the game and I agree with your assessment. Rosier did have some nice throws that he normally does not make. He also had a couple of throws where the receiver bailed him out. Not overwhelming passing stats but overall one of his better games.

As for Knowles, he’s not only getting burned in coverage but he’s a huge liability in zone blitzes. He was sent multiple times and he never even got close to putting pressure on the QB much less even hitting him. This left Shaq in coverage longer than he should have been and their QB was able to pick the coverage apart. I think Shaq had a pretty good game otherwise. I think our zone blitzes would have been more consistent with any one else instead of Knowles but at the end of the day that’s on Manny for continuing to play him.

For anyone downplaying our victory over Toledo, they are very good G5 team and likely our toughest opponent until we travel to BC.

It was a one score game with toledo. I think its crazy to think we just blow the doors off FSU. Rosier’s inaccuracy and punting will keep them in the game alone. They actually have athletes that can exploit these things.

He was 13 for 23, just over 200 yards, thats not great considering it was Toledo. He did run the ball well and that is a truthful answer. If he can hit Thomas in stride, Thomas will score 2 to 3 times a game, Thomas made some great over the shoulder catches. In Rosier's defense, our OL sucks and he rarely has time to throw.

Enough of the criticisms and what not. It's about time to rally around the team! Haven't U hear the WORD today. DJ says " stop it!! " Now!!
