My Post Game recap

Look at this fruitcake. These new Canes celebrating like we're App St beating Michigan. This fan base needs therapy and a history lesson on what a true beatdown looks like.
You mean like the 41-8 beatdown we put on #3 Notre Dame just last season? We can only play who's in front of us.

I'm not a "new" Cane fan been a fan my entire life & my whole family are Canes fans as well.

I'm aware that Toledo is a weak G5 & we were supposed to win with ease & we did.

No one is acting like we won the ACC because we beat Toledo, but a win is a win & I don't know any Canes fan that isn't happy after we win regardless of who it is.
Yep
But I disagree that Toledo is a weak G5.

I think they aren't too far from ucf and boise

It’s effortless how JT can locate the ball in the air and just make the play.
For real!

I gotta give you credit for calling it before the year started, you said JT would be better than Ahmmon & thus far he has been. It's still early & we haven't hit ACC schedule yet, but JT4 looks to be on the verge of having a breakout season if he keeps it up.

He's just lightening quick man, and his route running has even stepped up as well.

He's the best player on the team and it's not even really particularly close. If you gave him an NFL QB he'd have 1500 yards this year.

Offense:
Malik Rosier - 13/23 205yds 2TD's 8att 80yds 3TD's rushing
Deejay Dallas - 17att 110yds 1TD
Travis Homer - 16att 62yds
Jeff Thomas - 5rec 105yds 1TD 1att 19yds rushing
Lawrence Cager - 3rec 67yds 1TD
Darrell Langham - 2rec 23yds
Choc Gray - 3att 6yds 1TD

Offense gained 474yds total on 73 plays 6.6ypp with 268yds rushing. 7/15 on 3rd down.

Offense stepped up & balled out today, after receiving heavy criticism they absolutely came to play. They dominated time of possession 35:29 to Toledo's 24:31.

Malik Rosier had one of his best games vs Toldeo last year & today was no different. He really played well & carried this team to victory. He made some really nice throws, especially in the 3rd quarter that comeback route to Cager on 3rd & 9 was very nice precise ball.

He also killed it running the ball, I believe that should be a staple of this offense going forward. Malik shouldn't be asked to throw it 30+ times a game, he should get 25 throws & 10-15 runs every game, that opens up the run game for Deejay & pulls those Safety's back in the passing game.

Deejay is a great dynamic weapon & is emerging as a very consistent runner. Both he & Homer played well today. Deejay needs more touches as the season progresses, whether in the run game or in the passing game, he's electric with the ball in his hands & has gamebreaking homerun ability.

The OL finally woke up & provided great Run blocking at the point of attack, they opened up some really nice lanes for Deejay & Homer.

JT4! Jeff Thomas is a BEAST! He's our best offensive weapon, I love the reverse he ran today & the fact he's now been put in position as our #1 WR & he's filled that role perfectly. The kid's got lighting quick speed & can't be covered by anyone one on one, once he gets those turbo boosters sparked up on his cleats he's gone! He's gonna score in every game we play this season, as long as we keep feeding him he should have an All-ACC season. He's our version of Tyrek Hill.

Defense:
- Jaquan Johnson 7tcks total
- Mike Smith 6tcks 1TFL
- Gerald Willis 5tcks 3TFL's
- Sheldrick Redwine 5tcks 1sack & 1TFL
- Michael Pinckney 5tcks 2TFL's
- Shaquille Quarterman 5tcks .05TFL's
- Scott Patchan 3tcks 1sack & 1TFL
- Trajan Bandy 3tcks 1TFL & 1INT
- Joe Jackson 3tcks 1.5TFL
- Romeo Finley 3tcks 1PD

Defense gave up 334yds total 113yds rushing & 221yds passing. With 13TFL's, 4sacks & 1INT.

Defense played well in the 1st half holding Toledo to just 64yds rushing, but as soon as Jaquan went down they completely fell apart.

The very first play Bobby Knowles came in the game Toledo immediately recognized it & threw right at him. They were salivating as soon as they seen #20 out there. IDGAF what the issue is, NO MORE KNOWLES! He shouldn't see the field for anything more than Special Teams this year, not another significant snap the rest of the season.

I hope Quan is okay & healthy, but if he's not Gurvan Hall, Amari Carter, Rome Finley, Derrick Smith or **** even Gilbert Frierson need to play ahead of Knowles. Under no circumstances whatsoever should Knowles be in the field unless it's the last possession of the game vs FIU.

Liked what I saw from G Willis, Rome Finely made some plays in coverage early & Pinckney played better this week. Bandy made a great pick as well, he's really a great corner for us.

Overall this Defense gave up too many big plays in the 2nd half & those Zone Blitzes are going to kill us in ACC play, every Blitz we ran they audible & ran the play to the exact spot where the Blitz was coming from. Better teams will pick us apart with that. Diaz needs to be reevaluated at the end of the season, his Defense is just too inconsistent.

I predicted that we would win 44-17 & we did what were we supposed to do against a G5 team with far lesser talent than us. With FIU coming up that'll be another blow out too, but the real test starts with ACC play. UNC & FSU are literally the 2 WORST teams in the ACC, rivalry games or not we should steamroll both of them @ Home.

That'll tell us where this team really is, we can't have close games with those teams we need to put them away in the 1st half & keep our foot on their necks in the 2nd. Neither one of them have the talent we do, we can turn this season around after the LSU debacle with 2 convincing victories vs UNC & FSU.

I'm hopeful we'll get it done. Great Win for the Canes!

Right on regarding the Diaz blitzes! Diaz has to get the feel when to make those calls, and he seems to call too many of them at times. Toledo gained a lot of yardage due to those MISSED blitzes. Ouch!!!!!!!!!

And before people jump on Rosier and diminish tha amazing catch by Thomas, Thomas was covered and Malik, I believe, was trying to throw it away, or at least to a spot on the field that only JT could get to.

I’m not saying whether it was accidental or on purpose, but Rosier threw him open on that play.

Quit acting like we never played a G5 opponent before and answer my **** question.

He was 13 for 23, just over 200 yards, thats not great considering it was Toledo. He did run the ball well and that is a truthful answer. If he can hit Thomas in stride, Thomas will score 2 to 3 times a game, Thomas made some great over the shoulder catches. In Rosier's defense, our OL sucks and he rarely has time to throw.

Oh, and another thing. Didn't I say Miami would HANDILY cover the initial point spread of... - 10 1/2! And I don't care what the spread is for the FIU game. Bet Miami EARLY and watch them cover, again!

I agree with you on all fronts man good write.

I still think FSU is going to be a dog fight.....not because of them but because of us
I feel what you're saying, but if FSU is a dogfight then there's something really wrong with this team.

I know it's a rivalry game & rivalry games are usually close, but we've blown out much better FSU teams in the past.

They have a god awful OL, even worse than ours & they simply don't have the talent at the skill positions to be an effective Offense. Their WR's are garbage, they have no TE play (LOL & McKitty's dumbass) & all they have is Cam Akers.

Their Defense is extremely overrated, their Corners couldn't cover an empty wheelchair in an old folks home. They lost a ton of talent on their DLine & they don't have a dynamic Ramsey type that can make plays.

We should beat them handily this year, especially @ home in The Rock. Idc who's the starting QB, we should steamroll FSU if our team comes to play. The Defense better be ready to hunt that night, I really hope Diaz doesn't let Francis pick us apart.

But isn't this Miami? The real Miami didn't boast about these throwaway victories. JMO.

Man, shut up. We are not where we expect to be. Still need an infusion of top talent in key areas - namely the secondary, OL and QB. And we also need to upgrade our coaching staff. We do not yet have a Top 10 roster or coaching staff, and that is evident when we play against those type of teams.

That said -- throwaway victories?? Ask Florida about UK. Ask FSU about Samford and Syracuse. &hit, Nebraska and Arkansa would kill for one of our throwaway victories right about now.

Kudos to the staff for winning the games that we are supposed to win. It requirers a discipline minded staff and players that play with an edge, to accomplish it. ZERO penalties today is also a reflection of great preparation.

Rosier played well today, but we must get our 2nd team QBs urgent passing reps, forget the debate whether Rosier should start or not. The 2nd string QB is one injury away from coming in and we MUST prepare him. In our past days of great QBs, it ws normal to expect the backup QB to come in as early as the 2nd/3rd quarters. The team must be ready for any circumstance.
