Offense: Gained 429yds total & rushed for 219yds.
- Malik Rosier 10/21 193yds 2TD's 3INT's & 1Fum passing, 13att 84yds & 1TD rushing
- Travis Homer 14att 95yds 1TD rushing & 1rec 20yds
- Chris Herndon 2rec 61yds 1TD
- Braxton Berrios 3rec 50yds 1TD
- Ahmmon Richards 3rec 57yds
- Deejay Dallas 6att 32yds rushing & 1rec 5yds
The Offense looked good early on, really loved the way Richt scripted the opening drive, would love to see him run the end-around with JT4 or Deejay as well, but good play call to keep the Defense off balance to start a drive.
Great run by Rosier, Berrios did a terrific job blocking downfield, I (just like Darling on the play) thought once he saw daylight he was gonna score. When he didn't I knew we wouldn't score that possession lol
I liked going for it on 4th down, with our Defense, it's a pretty **** tall task to ask a team to drive 95yds on us.
It looked as though Michael Parrot (the FB transfer from Bama) actually bumped into Donaldson on the pitch play to Homer. Even if he didn't, probably wouldn't have scored on that play anyway. Don't want to be overly critical but, the Redzone issues continue every week. There's a bevy of plays I would have like to seen called on that drive, but no need to make a big fuss, just gotta keep working on it.
The OL played pretty well, Darling had some false start penalties but other than that the OL has been playing pretty **** good over the last few weeks. Getting Donaldson back healthy made a huge difference in the run game.
Herndon is a NFL caliber TE, he's just a grown *** man out there... Been absolutely ballin for us & has legit speed. Idk of he's a 1st rounder like Joku, but he might be a better overall TE in terms of Blocking, catching, route running etc.. Definitely 2nd/3rd round prospect.
Berrios has been the best player for us on Offense this year. The kid is reliable & is an absolute monster route runner. He's a True leader & True Cane. Deserves to be mentioned amongst the Cane greats for years to come.
Glad to see Deejay getting worked in the Offense, he's a dynamic weapon & like I said in the thread from a while ago on him, Matchup nightmare.
Ahmmon seems to be still fighting whatever pain he's dealing with, but he's getting more acclimated back into the Offense.
Rosier was a great runner, was the difference in this game being a close fight & us having complete control like we did most of the game. As for the 3INT's & the fumble, uhhh do I need to say anything?... Hey Malik, stop doing that. That is all lol.
Defense: Held Va Tech to 299yds total, just 102yds rushing, 3/14 on 3rd downs & forced 3 turnovers.
- Jaquan Johnson 7tcks 1INT & 1FF
- Joe Jackson 7tcks 1sack 1TFL
- Malek Young 7tcks
- Sheldrick Redwine 6tcks 1INT
- Michael Jackson 6tcks 1TFL 1PD
- Shaquille Quarterman 5tcks
- Michael Pinckney 5tcks
- RJ McIntosh 4tcks .05TFL 1FR
- Kendrick Norton 3tcks 1sack 1.5TFL's
- Mike Smith 2tcks
- Jonathan Garvin 1sack 1TFL & 1FF
- Amari Carter 1sack 1TFL
This was the best Defensive performance of the season, Duke, 1st half vs FSU, 2nd half vs GTech & vs Cuse have all been good performances by this Defense with a few lapses, but this game was by far the most dominant.
We held the vaunted Josh Jackson to just 20/32 197yds 2INT's 1Fum & 0TD's.
Our Run Defense really stepped up this game, they had a few runs where they slipped out to the 2nd level of the Defense, but for the most part were contained. Considering how we've struggled most of the year against the run we really played our best game stopping them.
This Defensive Line is the BEST & the deepest in the ACC! RJ McIntosh is going to make a lot money in the NFL, hate that we're losing him, but he's playing like a kid whose got his eyes on the prize & I ain't mad at that.
JJack, Chad, Norton & Trent were held a lot this game as well, not a single holding call was made, but we were in their backfield all game long. We kept them under constant pressure, and we were killing it on 3rd down all night, we were getting off the field.
Garvin with that NBA prototype wingspan had a great Sack as well, that kid is going to be special as he continues to develop under Coach Kool.
The LB Corp looked very solid, Shaq & Pinckney played well, they were disciplined and playing assignment football, which helped us against the run big time. McCloud after struggling last week stepped up and played smart, sound football. He looked confident in his reads & wasn't thinking out there, just playing what Diaz called & that's what will make him a better player, just trust the call, trust your eyes & make the play. Even saw mi bredrin Mike Smith making plays. Lion paw!
The Secondary has really come into its own, Jaquan Johnson was the MVP of this game with a key Redzone Forced Fumble & a terrific INT. He's been our best Safety all year, hasn't missed a single snap & is flying all over the field. He's the leader of this Defense and it has really shown.
Been saying it all year even when he was under criticism from our fans, he's exactly the kind of Baller you want in your locker room. No he ain't Sean Taylor, but he's **** good & @The Franchise said last week, gimme a team full of kids like him & I'll beat you every time over all those "perfect size" guys.
Redwine played light out ball as well, he made several tackles on the backend cleaning plays up & has really been great in coverage. We haven't been beaten deep all year, it's mainly because of him. The back end of this Defense does not allow the long ball for TD's.
Mike Jack has proven to be our best cover Corner, he's great in Deep coverage, big & physical & is an absolute Ballhawk.
Malek Young seemed to have some trouble with Cam Phillips, but overall played well. Had a dumb penalty at the end, but we were just killing'em by then lol. Dean woulda had an INT if timed his jump properly, your 6'1/2 with long arms, can't let a 5'10 dude out jump you like that lol
Overall, do yall realize we would've literally shut this team out if Rosier didn't throw that INT?!?
We really really came to bring it to this supposed world beater Technically ******, this was a statement game from our team, we basically put the ACC on notice... Don't be fooled by the close games, we been waiting for a legit opponent just to open a can on yall ***!
Coach Richt & El Jefe has this team gelled, they're bought in & got each other's back, we're playing ****ed off inspired football & we can line up with anybody. This team ain't shook bout ****! No matter the situation or circumstances we're coming to play!
Most teams would've folded up after your QB throws 3INT's, we just laughed & kept whipping that ***, this is the best Football we've played in Miami since the Dynasty days... Yeah I said it.
One week at a time, Tocuhdown Jesus is next, but you think any of our boys in that locker room is scared??? LOL ***** nah! Tell Brian Kelly to get that Blame Bus revved up, he's gonna have to throw some of his players under it next Saturday!
