My only complaint

Starters played too long
Mario was ****ed, because we had a chance to absolutely put away the game after Powell's int. Yes, the game was pretty much over, but we had a chance to go up another TD and pull the starters for the rest of the 4th qtr.

That didn't happen. Dawson and company took their foot off the gas. Offense was flat and unfocused. Should have gone up 45-10, but offense couldn't move the ball and Borregales missed the FG. Lagaway comes in at qb and our defense forces 3 and out, looking good. Offense gets the ball back and has a quick 3 and out, looking awful again in that series. We punt to UF and defense gives up long TD drive to UF, while looking sloppy in the process.

Now, its 38-17 instead of 45-10 and Mario is ****ed. He feels like he cant pull the starters and game is not out of reach. Leaves the starters in to prove a point and finish the game, which they did.

I predicted Brown would have a big season and I still think he will but he did seem tight/tentative. He'll get it going. And even with that he contributed.

One complaint: how did our D get turned for their first long score. We were completely flanked and scored on by a guy who had been out of camp since when, April?

No bueno. Fortunately, Cam was cold as ice and scored before the half. That’s when I knew this game was in hand.

Sam Brown tighten up. You missed the opportunity for two touchdowns half assing. Mario gone light you up this week, lol.

Other than that, no complaints A+ all around. We got something special.
I still don't feel we're quite there at the WR / DB positions (whether they're on the roster, but underclassmen and not ready yet I don't know) to compete at the elite level, but I'd be disappointed if we're not in the ACC Championship game if the key players stay healthy.

Yep. He slowed down on the possible touchdown at the 1 (we he got spun around) and then only put up one hand up on the missed catch from Restrepo.
Agreed, not a talent issue, but an effort deficit. It’s all teachable. Leadership needs to take him to task, from Coach down to Cam. He’s a good kid, smart, talented. He’ll get the culture. It’s game 1, mark it down and move on.

Both groups looked solid outside of Harris taking that bad angle for the TD run

Bad angles, but also the right play call by UF at the wrong time for us. We overloaded the left side of the line, and they ran a play away from the rush. It happens.

Solid, yes, and with a QB like Cam Ward you've always got a puncher's chance against the elite - but they were the weakest position groups for us and looked a step behind the rest of the team.

Florida called a nice play against the corner blitz running away from it but we were twisting Clark and Alston and Clark went upfield and never set the edge then it seemed like 31 saw that and didn't set the edge tried to get upfield and then Harris did the same. Good teaching moment though, sometimes u get caught in tough spot when they make the perfect call against what were running but had 31 and 7 forced the runner back inside then baron likely would have tackled the back for a 20-30 yard gain on backside pursuit instead of 70yard TD.

Worst part of the game was not converting the Restrepo reverse pass. The main takeaway is it’s great when that’s your biggest nitpick, blowing a middle finger trick play while blowing them out. But still, you gotta make that play.

Yep and I think Wes maybe should have tried to get outside of the pulling O lineman. But sometimes it’s just the perfect play call.

We just might be pretty good.
