My biggest questions going into Fall Camp

My #1 thing to watch is TVD as well. With Gattis having a preference for playing between the hashes will TVD be able to move the ball consistently in tight windows if we aren’t looking to push the ball deep as often. This is where he struggled most last year. And where he can cement himself as a top 5 or 10 pick

Conference, Stadium, Uniforms…

I simply want the team healthy and ready to start the season and heading into A&M and forward..

1. O line development
2. Dog stepping up at wr
3, dog stepping up at lb
4, cornerback development

Gattis loves to run the ball. Mario loves to run the ball. Until proven otherwise, y’all need to stop assuming TVD is gonna throw it 35 times for 300+ a game. There’s zero proven receivers on the roster. So unless we absolutely cannot run it, you’re more than likely gonna get your feelings hurt.
Mirabal will improve the OL play. I think Feld will have our OL stronger & better conditioned. My sense though is that it will take 1-2 years for us to really be able to lean on opponents and run the ball effectively (consistently & especially in short yardage situations). I think we'll need additional serious people movers on OL before this will improve to the desired level.

Against opponents with strong DL talent (like ATM), we'll likely struggle to run the ball consistently if we attempt to impose our will in the run game (this year).

Got to utilize TVDs talents more in games like that as we have great TEs, very good pass-catching RBs and enough dependable WRs. TVD will simply need to make some quick throws & distribute the ball to his playmakers in space to keep the chains moving with deep balls mixed in throughout the game (but especially early) to prevent the opponent from crowding the box.

In other words, I hope that we will not play conservatively (to keep the game close) and repeatedly try to run the ball, if it's not proving effective.

Gots to adapt to the talent we have. In 1-2 years, it will be a completely different story and we'll have all offensive options available to us at an elite level.

For me his deep ball is his strongest asset. So that wasn't me who said that. Myself I need to see him develop the other parts of his game. Especially the intermediate routes. The deep posts, the outs, less so hitches. I wanna see his 15-20 yrd routes go to a different level. Not just chunk it as an out.

Sorry Brooklyn, you are correct. I went back and found the reference. It was Boarcane.

I just want TVD to be loose out there, since he doesn't have to carry the team on his shoulders like he (and King before him) had to do last season.

Going into this Fall and season with managed expectations. Optimism for the future, but some level of caution as well. Perhaps that’s just PTSD. Maybe it’s founded on the reality of where I know we were and how much needs to be done to jolt our program in the right direction.

Here’s what I’ll look for during Fall camp (and the early parts of the season):

1. Will Coach Gattis’ offensive ‘identity’ formation lean toward TVD’s downfield and opposite hash abilities?
In his interview today, he mentioned he’ll run a personnel-driven offense. A few moments later, he said the Fall was about establishing the identity of the team through the offense. I don’t think it’s difficult to interpret his comments as wanting a physical brand of football. He mentioned how, while they may not have the depth they want on the OL, they’ve got the potential to be as good as anyone (or something to that effect). We’re all wondering what the offense will look like. The Fall will only give us some hints. Let’s see how TVD-driven it might look.

2. How will we hold up physically?
I must’ve spent the better part of the last two seasons complaining - in subtle and not so subtle posts - about our tackling and hitting in practice. People close to the program continuously mentioned how we hit less than they ever expected. It became obvious on gameday. I fully expect Mario to ramp up the physical nature of our practices. The way it needs to be done. We shall see what happens, but it’s exciting to be prepared for actual football again.

3. Which 2-3 defensive players will surprise us?
Everyone I’ve heard from says the players are *fully* bought into Coach Steele. They are genuinely excited. Stephenson and the Safeties are good bets to be at least solid, if not more, but we need at least a couple of surprise ‘leaps.’ One of the DTs? One of the Edge players? A surprise LB or CB?
"In his interview today, he mentioned he’ll run a personnel-driven offense. A few moments later, he said the Fall was about establishing the identity of the team through the offense."

That's a fair comment considering how many kids we had out in spring offensively. The 2-deep is going to be vastly different coming out of fall camp.

With his arm he should be able to shove deep posts down the throats of most teams that we play.

Can we come out of a friggin’ timeout and not get a delay call?

Can we limit the false starts?

Will we ever return a punt or a kick to change field position?
