I have an excellent idea and I don't think anyone has mentioned it.
Kick out Cal and Stanford and keep SMU. Add USF.
Create 2 divisions
Div 1:
Miami
FSU
USF
Virginia
VT
Louisville
Duke
SMU
Div 2:
Clemson
GT
Pitt
UNC
NCST
Wake
Syracuse
BC
Everyone plays the other 7 teams in their division and then 2 cross division per year. You play everyone at least once every 4 years. Winner of each side goes to the conference championship game. Simple tie-breaker - H2H is first tie breaker, 2nd tie breaker or if 2 or more teams are tied - go to division record (after H2H against teams tied), and then CFP ranking 3rd. If no one is ranked - cancel the ******* thing because it doesn't ******* matter.
We can call it the ACC Coastal and the ACC Atlantic divisions. Who opposes?
