Whatever way you slice it, we are 6-0 and the #8 team in the country, so I am definitely not going to complain about much. However, there are definitely some things I saw that I liked/didn't like from yesterday's win. I also want to mention that this team is growing and getting better week-in-week-out. I mean look at how far Malik has come since the start of the year, he was lights out accurate in the 1Q and if not for some uncharacteristic drops he would've broken 400+ yds easy.

Here's some stuff that jumped out to me from the stands:

Empty Set
I loved when we split 5 guys out wide. We were absolutely carving them up. If we are able to buy time for Malik to make the progressions, this can/should become a staple of the offense given the playmakers we can trot out there. Rosier even mentioned how much he likes being in a 5-wide set in the postgame. If you haven't already, go back and look at the plays we ran from this formation, pretty much a 1st down every time.

Red Zone/Goal Line Offense
This one goes without saying - everyone knows its an issue at this point, like many of you have mentioned, if we punch in the RZ opportunities we are up 14-21 pts going into half yesterday. The reality is that the base RPO set doesn't have many options for 3-5 yd plays if the O-Line can't get the push needed. It would be cool to see if Richt can implement some sort of power, 3 TE formation to use strictly in goal line situations. I am sure they will work on it and hammer that home in practice this for the tune-up against UNC.

Aggressive Pash Rush
I know we live and die by Manny and his blitz package and don't get me wrong - I love that he cuts the boys loose but in certain situations and against QBs that like to scramble, I'd like to see a spy or a containment rush. On the final play of the game, Dungey looked to roll out right but we had a contain set up over there so we forced him to make a play with his arm. IMO, this would pay dividends against guys like Josh Jackson (VT) and Brandon Wishbum (ND).

Curious to see what you guys think.

Anytime Homer needed a breather we went on an empty 5WR set. Means there's not really a reliable backup running back. This has me worried because we need to establish the run versus VT and ND. Every time Homer's on the field my heart speeds up, gotta keep him healthy.

I agree, but Homer was in the slot for many of the 5-wide sets we ran. He even caught a slant for about a 20-yd gain.

I think we did that when Herndon got dinged up, and we used Homer a lot in the 5 wide.

Surprised we didn't use the empty set with Homer in the slot and run ANY motion out of it and do some jet sweep fakes/handoffs out of it. We did well in that formation, but doing that could open up some zones in the passing game for sure.

Regarding running a 3 TE power set, do we even have 3 TE's on the roster?

with scott patchan going out there yesterday because Irvin was out, i'm not sure we do.

if so the third would be useless in a crucial moment, much better to put another playmaking WR out there instead

next year we won't have that problem with 2 studs coming in at TE

I was wondering why they don't try 1 of the OL or DL as a FB in goal-line situations...

I saw a lot of bad angles and guys biting on fake moves in pursuit of the QB. I really think our defense underestimated how fast/athletic this kid was. I don't remember who it was, but one of those plays where Dungy scrambled all the way back across the field, he did a subtle fake like he was about to cut inside. If the Miami player doesn't bite, he eats Dungy up. If Dungy actually cuts inside, he would have got sealed up. Instead the Miami player bit and Dungy broke it outside for like a 20 yard gain.
