My 2 cents on JW and a Florida fan opinion on him

I believe you have put this in perspective. I remember In the NY Giants first super bowl, The Giant defense battered Joe Montana so badly they made him look like a Jag. Jim Burt almost put him put of the game. This was a 2 time Super bowl winner (at the time) and league MVP.

For his first game, his main thing was to maintain his poise, take care of the ball, and keep battling. A team tended to take the personality of it's QB. It'll get easier for him over the next several and he'll have a real chance to work on those little things like pocket awareness. He'll be better prepared for the next time he faces a top team in the ACC championship game. ;)

I mean he’s a RFR playing behind a TFR & RFR on the outside of the OL. Honestly all 3 probably have no business starting but considering that’s all we have... He’s going to have to learn to climb up in the pocket more. The interior is the only decent part of the OL and that’s not saying much. Outside rushers are going to be coming after him all year so stepping up will be his best friend. The clock in his head has to get much faster because he won’t have much time this year.
 
Jarren was impressive. Perfect? **** no. But he was way more impressive to me than Kyle Wright ever was, not that Kyle Wright should serve as the benchmark for QBs.

Jarren will unequivocally be the best QB since Berlin and could very well be the best QB since Dorsey when it's all said and done. He just needs some OLine help. It's kinda important, so they say.

I saw a lot of positives from JW's performance last night. It was very reminiscent of how I felt after Kyle Wright's first game. Wright ultimately faded due to a massive cluster of events- lack of motivation on his part, lack of continuity at OC, and the sheer attrition in numbers and talent at WR.

Time will tell what happens with Jarren. If he stays motivated to be great, and if Manny continues to bring in real talent at WR, that will be a major step in the right direction. I actually hope that Enos coaches well and stays at Miami for a longer period of time. Coaching continuity is often overlooked but a big deal in terms of player development when you actually have solid coaches, especially at QB.

..and that will come with experience. Not only was it his first start, his only college experience was 3 pass attempts early last year against an FCS team.
 
Williams didn't force any passes, put the ball where only his guys could catch it, and when he got sacked he maintained ball security. For a guy in his first start, in a rivalry game against a top 25 defense, he put Miami in a position to win. The rest of the team let him down big time. TEs were supposed to carve up field but they disappeared. Kicker missed chip shots so that final drive Williams had to get into end zone instead of just into FG range. Punt returner put Miami behind on the scoreboard so that Miami was forced into passing despite having zero OL protection- oh and the OC kept going playaction when the D had stopped biting on the fake long before.

And to top it off, at the end of the game when the D made a big play to give Miami good field position and a final chance to win, a Miami legacy decided it would be a good time to flip the bird. Nah bro, Williams was the single bright spot.

I suppose the only other minor positive is that for the first time in a long time, we aren't complaining about a punter who can't kick the ball 25 yards.

It actually is small brother. It comes with experience. If richt wouldve done what he was supposed to last year and get him some snaps this wouldnt be anywhere near the same issue.
