Mount okunlola

I think there's a good chance it works out that way. Samson at LT and McCoy LG.

Right Guard is the only position that looks up in the air. 3 or 4 guys could be the starter there - Buchanan, Minaya, Meiweather, et al.
I agree and like Samson and McCoy at Lt and LG respectively.

Tbh it wasn’t like Anez was some world beater at RG. I think we’ll see that with where he gets drafted, late round pick or undrafted. I expect similar production from one of those 3.

My concern is C and that’s only cause SJ is like 6’2 300lbs. He’s way too small compared to what we’ve had starting on this OL but if he plays I’m sure it’ll be cause they think he can hold up.

Jury is still out on him for me.

All the ability in the world, and has extreme flash.

But I believe the issue with him has been consistency. It looks like he's getting better, but it's something to monitor.

Obviously hoping the kid puts it all together because he has AA potential.

he turned it on in the playoffs, was consistently moving people... Oh St and Ole Miss he was the most noticeable lineman out there for me

Think Miami will have 8 linemen that can contribute to the 1st and 2nd team. Samson, McCoy, Rodriguez, Cantwell, Meriweather, Cline, Buchanan, and Minaya. I’m not gonna get into who I think will be the staring 5, but that’s a decent pool of players to pull from.

McCoy is an interesting player, nice size, athleticism, good run blocker, but his pass blocking for whateva reason is inconsistent. Him and Samson have the athleticism and size to play anywhere on the OL. Regardless of where McCoy plays his pass blocking is gonna have to be more consistent.

I'm not saying the guy is a bust. But he didn't get serious burn until his junior year for a reason, and I think it's consistency.

Samson Okunlola came here as "Pancake" the 5 star OT. He was coming along great his 1st Spring/Summer here then he got hurt and tore his acl. That made him miss the 2023 season entirely and put him far behind in his development. Yet Samson never whined or cried about it. He just put his head down and worked his A$$ off! He reshaped his body post injury as well as increasing his core strength. He worked tirelessly on his technique and fundamentals all while completing his UM degree in 2.5 years. He began earning playing time at Left Guard last year but really began to earn significant time there this season. Then in the playoffs he took it to another level. Now in his 4th year as a Redshirt Junior, he is in line to start either at Guard or at Tackle and he will compete for both this spring through the fall. He could have just taken his ball and gone home but instead he challenged himself to get better. He knew that he had everything necessary here at Miami to succeed. He just had to apply himself and work hard and it would come. So instead of taking the easy way out and portal to another program he stayed and for that he has earned our respect. Samson Okunlola has become one of my favorite players because of his sheer will and determination/dedication to this program.

I love the guy as a football player, but I'm not mounting any man.

If SJ is legitimately 6’2 300, that’s plenty big enough to play C. But i don’t think he’s anywhere close to that.

He was at no worse than the 3rd best lineman we had all year last year and in most games he performed the best actually

He’s growing into one of my all-time favorite canes. Aside from his improvement and physicality, didn’t he graduate in 2.5 years. This young man has it all, including resilience.
Definitely the only 5 star I’m aware of in the portal era to take the path of being surpassed, injured, slow developing, and stick it out and end up working out and being a good player through all of that.

If there’s others, please let me know. Lightfoot is another one that’s taking time but on a similar path and sticking it out and will benefit from it. Not as many obstacles as Samson though

Sisi, Markell, Anez... stop capping, Brock. Samson was not top 3 and the fact you would say that is just simping for Okunlola.

Samson good, but don't say he was "better" than Sisi or Markell "most" of the time.
