I am personally very worried about this OL and everyone else should be also. These replacements aren't going to be close to the 4 starters we just lost. The one starter we are returning split time with Samson. We are going to have a significant drop-off. I am more concerned with C than anything.
I'd expect
OT: Cantwell is 100% starting at one spot. he'll take some lumps, but oh well, We'll survive. The other spot, I'd go with Samson. Obviously first time game reps at OT. I'd suspect he wouldn't get beat by speed rushers as much as Bell. I think there will be small drop off from Bell to Samson to start of course. But maybe by the end of the season we could see him be as good or better than Bell. Bells main weapon was obviously just his size and length. Samson moves well, and showed good power run blocking this year imo. I think he is ready. If McCoy is the LT, idk I think he has shown much more just blatant misses in pass pro... Would be a little more concerned. Wouldn't be suprised to see Meriweather in this competition, but I think it's more likely he serves as OT3/4. I'd guess its Cantwell starting then likely for the other spot it is Samson > McCoy >> Meriwheather >>> Congdon / Wilkerson/Campbell. BTW, unlike most I would not AT ALL be surprised to see it Cantwell at LT and Samson (or mcCoy) at RT. In fact, I think it may even be likely.
OG: McCoy = Likely better than last season at least, just due to another year development. I though Samson was just better than him during season, yet Staff still started him all season. *IF* McCoy wins an OT job, I'd want Samson on whatever side Cantwell is on. But I really think McCoy sticks at OG, and the other OG is going to be the competition mainly between Meriweather and Buchanan. Minaya I'd think is running 3rd in that race. I would guess we probably see Merriweather and one of Buchanan/Minaya split reps same as we saw McCoy/Samson this year. I gotta say though, Having Buchana+Cantwell on the same side and be the entrenched starters for the next 3 years would be great. Obviously it's gunna have 1st year starting issues picking up some stunts. But that's mirabals job.
C: Rodriguez. I think if Rodriguez is the guy this will be a baseline solid output. Probably most similar to Zach Carpenter. Remember he was the opening day starter at LG against UF with Cam. This staff clearly really likes him. I'm not worried about his ability to snap the ball. And As long as the intelligence is there to make all the line calls - which he's been here forever, so he shoudl be good there - I don't think this is a big risk.. If SJ wins it will probably have some struggles, and I'd mostly be worried about the mental aspect and him likely being undersized. But he's athletic, and would be used to move a lot more. If SJ wins I think it may honestly be very likely Rodriguez is one of the starting Guards... I'd just default to Rodriguez is starting...
