Most unexpected disappointing aspects of the game

The offensive play calling was arguably the *least* surprising aspect of the game. Which is what also makes it the most disappointing.

Diaz needed to hit a home run with the OC and instead he choose guy based on the guy lighting Diaz up one game years ago.

The offense in its philosophy should have matched what Diaz wants to do defensively. That's South Florida football. Instead Diaz went with somebody that has a completely different philosophy, and you saw that all game.

But all we heard all offseason was how the WR group was one of the best in the nation.

Brevin JT and Osborne is a really good trio. Best in the ACC outside of Clemson no doubt.

Behind that there's talent but nobody who has proven anything.

But UF has very good DBs and it's tough to get open when the DL is on the QB in 2 seconds so maybe dont write off the WRs just yet

If you want to keep with the theme of your title, the most unexpected, disappointing, aspect of the game imo was the lack of pressure by the DL. I came in expecting them to utterly dominate UF’s OL. They had 1 sack, generated some pressure, but didn’t dominate to the level of their pre-game hype.

I expected the OL to be bad, expected the STs to hurt us, and expected some growing pains with Jarren.

Noooo way! Lol. I like our guys, but they’re not playmakers, quite basic. I know the O-Line struggled but the WR didn’t help either. Sheesh. I miss AHHMON RICHARDS. I honestly believe our best play maker at the WR, POSSIBLY outside of JT4... is Jeremiah Payton, but he didn’t sniff the field. I have no faith in anyone else making an impact outside of just making a catch. I hope they prove wrong throughout the season.

When you can't protect the QB, how does it even matter what the OC's philosophy is?

You want a full spread air raid? UF might have had 20 sacks then

What I don't get is if we knew our offensive line was so bad going in why we didn't at least try a QB that can make plays on the run and maybe take off for chunks of yards.
If our RB couldn’t really get the running game going what makes you think playing a QB like Martell would have worked?!?! If Martell plays... we lose by a minimum of 20.

Nah our DLine had him sacked a couple of times and let him scramble and make a big gain. A lot of missed tackles
Yeah, that’s true too man, I was in the stadium. So from being drunk and being hype I couldn’t always tell exactly what it was..but that **** felt like it

Is there anything sadder to watch than Patchan trying to pass rush? We need him out for 3rd/4th and mediums & replaced with a more talented pass rusher like Rousseau or Hill.

The one reason why I disagree with you is because Jarren barely had time to do anything. Enos could have been even more conservative once he realized it was going to be a long night due to our Tackles being beaten most of the time. We made some plays but there just wasn't enough time to do much. Once UF realized they didn't have to blitz to get to the QB they took away our quick passes and when we did have time there wasn't much open. The one thing Jarren should have done was to take the underneath routes(crossing routes) on the last drive when nothing else was open. I figured he thought he had to take shots but 35 seconds left was plenty of time to throw underneath and trust the WRs to get out of bounds if they couldn't make a first down.

You know what you don’t do with a young QB that doesn’t have much time to pass? Play within the tackles.

Modern offense is about putting stress points on defenses while limiting how difficult it is for you to execute these stress points.

This is why playing under center is gone and everybody runs shotgun. This is why the fullback is basically dead. Why teams spread you out. Run read option. Run RPOs. Run tempo.

Execution wise it’s easier than the alternative. While at the same time it forces the defense to make tough decisions and gives you advantages schematically. Can’t every team take advantage of it. But that’s the idea.

Enos doesn’t do any of it. You folds almost all of it. Then we are shocked the UF defense doesn’t feel stressed.

I get everything you're saying but say this in game 7, 8. It's game 1. There were mistakes by the coaches and players. We'll be fine once we get better Tackle play. If you thought Zion or 74(I can't remember his name) wasn't going to struggle than you were being unrealistic. I'm sure the coaches and players will be better as the season goes. This isn't last season. We did some good in the game. It sucks to lose but UF made plays on our D when they had to at times. Their D stepped up when they had to. If you want to continue to complain be my guess but I'm over this loss and ready for UNC in 2 weeks.

They were dropping DE’s into coverage and having them spy the QB for a large percentage of the plays. I was not particularly pleased with the play of Garvin and thought Rousseau should be staring but the D is still elite. The DBs handled there business and if Ivy wasn’t suspended he would have been in, instead of Gil who got burned on the long pass.
The D is not elite. 1 sack and no real pressure

They were dropping DE’s into coverage a majority of the the game. The Gaytor offense basically had only 2 long plays the entire game. You take those plays away and the defense smashed what was supposed to be a top offense in CFB
