Most talented ACC teams

People still making excuses for lack of talent in 2022?!! Lol
Because it's not lack of talent (according to the recruiting rankings) it's lack of coaching, development, leadership, work ethic, strong culture etc. Miami doesnt have elite talent like UGA, Bama, Ohio St, Clemson, OU etc, but plenty of teams dont have that level and are still consistent year to year. Jimbo has recruited top talent at Tx A&M the last 4 or 5 seasons and are still a middle of the pack team. Meanwhile, teams like Cincinnati are not known to acquire top end talent, but have been having decent results on the field the past 3 or 4 seasons. Elite talent gets you to the top of the mountain (national championship), but you don't need elite talent to not get your *** beat by a team like Middle Tennessee St at home. Besides, even if Miami had gotten more elite talent over the years, they would have likely been relegated to JAG status by playing in garbage schemes for garbage coaches (see Al Golden). Lack of talent to me is the message put out by mediocre coaches to deflect blame from them to the players.

An oldie, but goodie article.

Maybe this will learn us something about culture vs. talent.

Oh?
Miami is Prima Facie evidence of Stagnation.
I sometimes feel we put the 'S' in the word..

Not a good way to measure your team.

1. The evaluations at 247 are just bad more times than not.

2. All 4 or 5 stars aren’t the same…Frank Ladson and Ahmmon Richards were both 4 stars according to 247 so was Mark Pope lol.

3. This doesn’t factor in what college these kids went to, was it a good fit for them? Did they get developed? Was there a coach or scheme change in their time there?

4. We have been failing because of bad evaluations paired with bad coaching and bad development. Its really that simple, utah, iowa state, cincy, Oklahoma st,Washington ,wake forest,nc state are in the top 25 right now but id bet we out recruited them according to 247. But they have evaluated and developed better so they are better than us right now.

This is not me saying we shouldn’t be better im sayin its a bad way to evaluate your team, some of those 4 stars they are counting are some of the players the fanbase hates

I have an explanation. Are all those 4 and five stars actually playing? Take a close look at the snap counts on Saturdays…and the other problem is we seem to recruit the slow 4 stars with the all the ht and weight they look for but not the speed.

Here’s an example. 3 star Flagg gets a million snaps but 4 stars GF and Chase Smith don’t get on the field.

and exactly why is that?
Coaches fckn up. Manny can’t teach so he took the easy way out and Flagg seems to have picked up things faster than the others in this new defense. But that’s my main complaint. these coaches are making too much money to not be able to teach these supremely talented and athletic players who may take a little longer to pick things up. I can’t stand it

LOL

Lot of teams "want to win" when they play Bama, UGA, Taint, etc.

Problem is, those teams recruit a ********ton of elite athletes, and have sustained programs in place with excellent coaches.

We don't have enough of the former (yet) and we're just getting started on the latter.

Let's do something weird and give it more than 4 games with a guy who has seen it done on every single level, and has done it as a head man. New season starts Saturday. Let's get the job done.
This isn't 4 games, this is well over a decade. Kids playing agianst Middle Tennessee did they look like players that care about winning? lets see when we play Clemson if Miami plays a competitive game. It took a team littered of 4 and 5 star players OT to beat Wake. Their players care and they play hard, complete opposite of what Miami does.
