More potential Chad or Matthew Thomas?

I look at these kind of comparisons differently.
To me Matt Thomas' greatest attribute is his athleticism, which means he's basically 1 knee injury away from having his greatest attribute disappear for a year.
Chad Thomas' has many facets to his game, with explosiveness being only part of what makes him great.

Same reason last year when everyone was saying RGIII and Kapaernick were better than Andrew Luck, I just shook my head and thought, "what if you took away their wheels? What would you think then?"

Somebody recently told me Duke is a serious knee injury away from being average. After cursing him out for his bad karma, I explained to him that Duke is like Frankie Gore, and his athleticism, while great, is nothing compared to his vision.

To get back on track, Chad over Matt all day long. On defense a Great big man is always more important than a great small man.

One knee injury from a player losing athleticism to the point they're a different player? Lots of guys have knee injuries now and come back fine. You and your friends are stuck in the 80s, brotha. Certainly, there are catastrophic injuries, but we all can get hit by a bus, too.

I wonder if Matt Thomas being 3rd string has anything to do with him not wanting to be at FSU. When your heart isn't in something, it's tough to reach the heights that you are capable of reaching.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him have an Arthur Brown type of career path.

Chad choose the school with long history of all pro defensive linemen. Matt choose a school that produced one great linebacker 100 years ago. Chad throws 370lbs 5* oline recruits around like ragdolls. Matt can't man up enough to tell his mommy where he wants to go. Chad will play on Sunday and take his place in the clouds of Cane greats. Matt will join all the Nole lbs, wherever they are.

Matt Thomas and its not even close

I'm with the contingent that M. Thomas has more upside, but this "not even close" claim is absurd.

Chad has the frame, potential for growth, and motor that is as good as anyone. And you can bet your *** he'll never take a play off. The gap is not that wide.

Matt Thomas - Dion Jordan

Chad Thomas - JPP

Those are the ceilings, so I guess it depends on what you value most.

Matt brings a skillset that is incredibly valuable, especially when combating the spread offense. Chad brings a skill set that will never go out of style...he flat out gets after the QB. I don't know if you can say one has more potential than the other, but I think that Chad is the safer bet to max out his skill set.

And let's not be children....Matt was and is an elite prospect, and that doesn't change because he made a terrible life decision.

I have no idea who you are talking about. If they are pros, you should not be so lazy and should type out their full names. I don't follow pro football at all anymore. It's a waste of time, as far as I'm concerned. While I could at least google Dion Jordan, I don't know where to begin with JPP.

From what I read on this board by multiple posters, Chad got mauled by the big OLs at Bishop Gorman last week.

One thing to keep in mind: it's much harder for LBs to do their job if they're getting blocked by OLs. If the DLs are keeping the LBs free, then the LBs can excel. It seems to start with the line. That's why Chad Thomas, who might not be as exceptional athletically as Matt Thomas, might ultimately be more important to his team.

Better question is between Matt and Demetrius.

They similiar positions.

Jackson could end up a 6'5 255 OLB/rush end

Whereas Chad could be more of a 275 pound DL.

Yeah, but at 275, he's going to be small for a DT, and he'll probably have to play outside, whether it's a 3 or 4 man front.

I've been saying for over a year now (sorry for being THAT guy) that when all was said and done Chad would be at the same level of Matthew leaving high school.

I caught a lot of **** for saying so, especially before the other guy spurned us which completely bastardizes this discussion for many people.

They are both elite and Chad is right on schedule.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Chad's talent might not be fully demonstrated because he's playing inside. He's supposed to be an outside player when he gets to UM. Again, what were the reports of the problems he had with the big OLs at the Vegas school?
