Moorhead to Akron

We need an OC who will recognize the blueprint Lashlee left and build upon it. Not saying we need to keep the same scheme but we should be throwing the ball 30-40 times a game or more if we can't get the run game established. Keep bro-style out of my face. Stretch the field, make it rain dimes.

Yeah I don't think any OC is going to look at the ACC Rookie of the Year surrounded by a bunch of Maserati's and say, "Let's run the wishbone".

@SWFLHurricane how much do you think it would cost David Yost to come on down?

He's always on my short list and I know he's on yours.

Yost Co OC/QBC/passing game coordinator

Mirabal Co OC/OL/Run game coordinator
Yost was fired from Texas Tech. He's not a good coordinator.

No need to give Mirabal an additional title either since he's a lock to come here. Use that title and a raise to lure an elite RB coach.

I hope the blueprint doesn’t have “what to do on 4th and short” on it!

Fair enough.
But I think his firing has more to do with fit or maybe running someone else scheme. I think he's a **** good coordinator. You don't go from bring a hot name to suck all in just one year.

One would hope not but stranger things have happened.

That's what I meant by build upon it. We have some studs in the RB room, but we can be a pass-first offense and still establish an effective ground game defenses need to plan for. As well as our OL did in pass protection with TVD I'm not sold on them being road-graders for Don, Rooster, Thad & Cody. I'd like to see the next OC take fix that.

In that scenario, would then let go Hickson? Or keep Hickson and go after say an elite WR coach?

That problem is solved by Mario and Mirabal.
Not in year 1 it isn't and maybe not in year 2 unless they hit the transfer portal. We're not going to become some physical smash mouth team just by their mere presence in Coral Gables. He needs to find an OC that can mask the weaknesses of a finesse OL until he recruits the OL that fits what he wants.

Why would anybody expect the ex-OL coach to change what has worked for him just because he would be switching coast? He'll have to fail doing it his way here before he switches it up. Hopefully he doesn't spend a year or two beating his head against the wall or it will cost us games.

Tom Herman would be the dream OC hire for us. Spread offense w/ a power run game would be Mario's dream. Ohio State rushing attack under Herman was absolutely insane with Hyde + Braxton and Zeke + JT.

Mario + Herman would be an exciting duo. Lashlee just got the HC job at one of the strongest G5 programs. Make Herman one of the highest paid OC's, pair him with TVD, and he likely sets himself up for a decent P5 HC role next season.

Tom Herman like to run the qb a little to much.

I remember yost being the board’s favorite before enos was hired. My how the mighty have fallen.

I’ll vote for herman. If the guy wants to get back into college, what better way than to take on an OC role, kill it for 1-2 years and then position himself for another P5 gig?

That would be a dream scenario and one of the only ones that would make me content with Mario.

Herman is another good name.
On my short list as well.

And as weird as this may sound...
@htownkidd can vouch because we talked about this in another thread.... Cousin Eddie as OC.

Yeah with blue chips all over the OL. Not really a comparison

If Yost comes here, TVD will obliterate all passing records... Yost is an young, innovative OC that will do well with the speed talent in FL and would be a great fit to Mario's conservative tendencies on offense

I'd be down to keep Hickson unless we could get Seider from Penn State or someone like that who is just another level of recruiter.

No need for the Running game coordinator title anyway, really. Maybe the Pass game coordinator to get a more respected WR coach or to hire a modern OC and then for Mario to bring in Chud as the TE coach/pass game coordinator. Hoping he's not his choice for OC.
