Monroe says Bandy to the NFL

Waiting for people to come cape for Rumph. Can’t recruit and can’t manage a room. We are looking at 5 DBs next year - one of them is going to be DJ Ivey and one is going to be a prospect who has never played the position. We. Are. ****ed
Ivey had a couple of bad games but this year was his first year to start/play a lot. Give him a break. He's a sophomore and he's going to get better.

So if Bandy declares, We will have Blades, Ivey, Couch, Williams, and Clarke That is absolutely terrible. Clarke is 100% a redshirt candidate who is very raw, Ivey is to unathletic and inconsistent, we hope Willimas and Couch are ready, and Blades is the only CB we can really rely on. That is terrible and Rumph should be fired for that ****. Now UM might needs to definitely need to bring in a Juco or Grad Transfer and probably add 2 more high school CB prospects. This situation does not call for UM to just add another athlete, Thayer need to be looking for high floor guys who can come in and compete/contribute immediately. UM should be looking at De'arre McDonald and Isiah Dunson.
Did you really expect Ivey to be consistent in his first year as a starter (or playing significantly)? Give him a break. 5 star Campbell is struggling too. It’s a tough position and most of them don’t fully develop til their 3rd/4th year (or even nfl).

Stop it, Ivey does not have the athletic tools to play CB effectively in this defense. He is not going to get magically faster or magically get more fluid hips. He is stiff and slow. I dont give af about that 1st year starter ****, it was his time to step up and he did not. I know it is a tough position, therefore Rumph should have recruited CBs with better physical tools to play that position, Ivey is a below average athlete.

he looked slow in his hs film. i never got the hype.

It would be one thing to lose kids to the 2-3 rounds of the draft, but kid after kid leaves to get drafted in 5-7th rounds or UFA is extremely frustrating.

The kids don’t value a degree at all.

they get horrible advice.

Joe Jackson was a really good player here, gets drafted in 6th round, has to fight his tail off just to make a team.

mind boggling these decisions.
They can finish their degree after they leave for free so, the not valuing a degree aspect is not accurate. That's their fall back plan after struggling to make the league for 2-3 years

how is it a dumb decision?? Nobody is doing themselves any favors staying their senior year at Miami. Going to the NfL as a junior is A smart decision
It's a dumb decision, if you had an average to poor season and won't get drafted at all.

Staying & having a great senior season would have dramatically increased his odds of getting drafted.

IMHO, there are too many cr@ppy @gents surrounding our program desperate for new clients. Players are drinking the Kool-Aid & voila you have a bunch of guys declaring (with stars in their eyes) who will likely be very disappointed soon. Haven't they learned any lessons from the last few years?

I wouldn't have some of those guys handle walking my dog let alone my career (what are the players thinking?).

The NFL is the Not For Long League. To have any chance of getting drafted & making a roster, you gotta put in serious work in college in preparation, at least be an all-conference type player (if not an AA) and you need to have a ton of great film on you.

IMHO, it appears very much that the Kool-Aid these players are being served by cr@ppy @gents tastes sweet initially but will leave a very sour taste in their mouths in the near term. Bad decisions being made over & over.

Just because he short doesn’t mean he won’t test well. No he doesn’t have better nfl measurable than Jackson but he should excel in the 40, short area quickness, vertical jump too though. Mike jackson was on the practice squad for the cowboys but was signed to the lions 53 man roster and is still collecting big time checks.
Actually...the average NFL Career is about 3.5 years....but its a lot better if it comes with a large signing bonus.
If you look at the average duration of an NFL Career of an average player (stripping out the average tenure of perennial Pro Bowlers like Aaron Rodgers, Ray Lewis, Frank Gore & Ed Reed who stick around for 12-17+ years), it is likely around 1.5-2.0 years.

If you can't dominate against FIU's players, you have no right going to the NFL to compete against the best of the best. That's totally delusional.

What about if you strip out all the guys that get signed to a practice squad for 1 month and get cut. What is your average then?

These guys are in the program and see the future. He’s cutting bait while his stock hasn’t plummeted. Odd thing about this move is our D line is going to be better next year which in turn is going to benefit him and his stock but he may see things different we all already don’t in this staff.
It has nothing to do with the program's future. There are a ton of buzz@rds circling around the program looking for fresh prey. They give the players Kool-Aid to drink ($$$ in their eyes) and then poof....it all ends up being a mirage. Instead of staying & maturing and really getting ready to compete against All Pro types at the next level, they declare early when they are completely unprepared to do so.

Declaring early used to be "reserved" for All Americans that had a phenomenal year as a Junior. They had everything before taking the plunge & declaring for the draft:

1) Name recognition as a former top recruit
2) Tremendous stats in college
3) Part of a winning program (MNC, major bowl wins etc)
4) Tons of great film on them
5) Serious + athlete that will test incredibly well

Think guys like Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson who just dominated in CFB and were totally ready to go by their Junior year. That's the type of guy that used to declare early (and even then it was perceived as risky). I'm sorry but the types we've had declaring early ain't in the same zip code as no Herschel Walker types so gt_oh with that sh ! t

Sorry but none of our guys declaring early are really any of the above.

As it stands, we're going to have Al Blades Jr who's good, Ivey who's a huge liability in coverage, Couch & Williams who have never started a game & will be learning on the job, with Marcus Clarke coming in who's not an EE & has learn how to play CB in this system.

E-LEET DEPTH, BRO!

2 injuries away from playing kids there who aren't good enough to start at safety.....

Praise the lord we'll have master technician Rumph (who hasn't yet quite mastered the art of coaching safeties) teaching them the finer points of the position. Else I'd be very worried.

An extra year won't make him taller or faster. Returning to be coached by this third rate staph is a waste of time. That applies to Garvin too. Might as well give it a shot.
Yeah..... here’s where you’re terribly wrong. If you get drafted, you get a contract longer than one year and the team looks at you as a developmental investment. UFA get a one year deal. The advantage to being an UFA is you get to pick your team. You decide where the need is greatest. Truth... Bandy isn’t, at his size, needed anywhere. He NEEDS a solid 12 straight games to prove he’s more than a once a month baller. It’s a very stupid and short sited decision. Think about a Berrios or Johnson. They get DRAFTED and we all know they’ll make it in the league. For most of these kids, it’s not an overnight thing. It’s not for Bandy. He’ll wash out

Are we letting guys come back and get degrees at no cost if they go undrafted or don’t make teams?
