Money in college athletics

I believe we don’t even disclose this type of info.
We don’t.

But it’s based on annual total revenue from Football.

This is basically the revenue that is generated by the football program without booster donations & endowments.
Ticket sales, merchandising, licensing etc...

TAMU, UT & the rest of the top 10-12 schools have an unlimited War Chest of cash.

But it highlights that 12 out of the top 25 have had at least 1 playoff appearance since the CFP were first started in 2015 & every team on this list except FSU, Tenn, South Car & Nebraska has had a winning season within the last 4 years & most of them are perennial conference contenders.

MSU being so low surprises me. FSU that much higher than Clemson is a shocker to me. 10 of the 25 SEC.
FSU makes a lot of money & spends a lot in recruiting budget as well...

They’ve just been tight with their pockets since Jumbo left & had to prematurely fire Willie.

Their issue isn’t lack of money, its just they don’t know how to spend it properly because their AD was ****** for all these years, hence why he just stepped down & they just hired a new AD.

They’ve been pretty cheap as a program considering they have plenty to spend, but because they keep getting everything wrong they’re just not trying to throw money around anymore until they know they have a sure thing.

But, you can expect them to jump into the big coach sweepstakes next season if Norvell has another losing season, he’s basically a lame duck for 2022.

Crazy. I thought Clemson would be above FSU but they aren’t the national brand that FSU is.

Our brand is bigger than both but we have not been serious, until now. I think we crack that list in a few years.
True, FSU definitely has that brand over Clemson. I guess I assumed Clemson got more popular nationally with all their winning.

So….r u saying…..that, winning actually matters to revenue? Lol. So W before E = $$? I, I, I never knew!

I saw that, I was trying to hunt down that link - didn’t work.

edit: I just googled “Forbes college football programs value/worth“ so I found some of their listings, basically the same thing, but I’m just wondering how they actually arrived at these numbers. I can’t find that anywhere. Just trying to figure out their methodology. I can dig through the University Of Miami balance sheet and come up with an estimate which is actually significantly higher than some of those numbers, but the way Miami lists it on the public balance sheet it’s hard to figure out actually

I would say that F$U and South Carolina are the two most surprising.

Unless I am missing something, there are only 4 states that have 2 representatives on the list, Texas (UT, aTm), Alabama (Bama, Auburn), Florida (UF, F$U), and South Carolina (South Carolina and Clemson).

Every other representative on the list, including Arkansas, is the long-time dominant school in the state (maybe you could question Southern Cal as being dominant, but it's definitely #1 in CA).

You can understand UT/aTm and Bama/Auburn.

South Carolina is the MOST surprising, though there are really only those two schools in SC. I find F$U so surprising for FL because there are a lot more schools to rival F$U in the state of Florida, including UM (historical output) and UCF/USF/FIU (sheer university population).

EDIT: sorry for the omission of Michigan/Michigan State.

Notre Dame is private and they are in the list. No excuse. My surprise is Washington is on the list.
