I am going to try to be as respectful and succinct in responding to this. Fundamentally, I agree that change for change’s sake is not good. You need to have a plan and competent decision makers, otherwise you wind up with a search like FSU landing Norvell. However, that quote or letter or whatever from Manny is absolute bull**** and you blaming fans reflects more on you than Miami fans.Dude it wasn't a letter. It was an oral articulate response that a bad reporter tried to transcribe. Nothing wrong with defending your bosses and your administration. And he's right. The negative cancer that surrounds his program is a huge problem and it does impact recruiting and fan support. I recognize that this website is more toxic than most, in fact it's bats*** psycho insane, But for whatever reason Miami fans are really negative and bad. I think there's a few obvious reasons for that - #1, many of the fans are not alums and have more of a pro sports mentality, #2, incredibly spoiled by the ridiculous success of the past, and #3, the belief, which is not implausible, that because of the rich recruiting base of South Florida that success is always just one coach away.
I really wish the negative fans would just go away and root for the dolphins. Let the team move to a 25,000 capacity on campus stadium.
There is a reason why Miami is considered to have have the worst fans in college football. You are exhibit A. But for your sake, I hope UVA wins big on Thursday. GOOD LUCK!I am going to try to be as respectful and succinct in responding to this. Fundamentally, I agree that change for change’s sake is not good. I wish you realized how condescending and insufferable you come across, but that is standard in the present day United States… heavens forbid someone have a different opinion than yours. If you do, just stay out of my space.
That aside, I am a second generation alum. Frenk deserves zero defense or respect. He has been asleep at the wheel and any alum should be ****ed that he has devalued their very expensive degree. He is an idiot and the sooner we are rid of him, the better. As little credit and respect that Frank deserves, Blake James deserves less. But if someone paid me $3m+ a year for a job I was not ready for, I’d be defending them too.
As to the fans being responsible and bringing negativity, that is absolute nonsense. Miami fans are well versed in picking up duds as coaches and when their tenure is past the point of reproach. The fans are not causing the negativity, they are responding to a poorly prepared and coached team.
You don’t want people to be negative, do a good job. They have had and continue to have plenty of talent to beat the Michigan St, Louisiana Tech, FIUs of the world and continue to fail tk do so. Perhaps if Manny wanted a lower pressure environment, he should have cut his teeth a temple and honed his craft first. I have never begrudged him for taking this job until these quotes.
There are plenty of other alums that are not happy with the state of things. If you think Miami fans are unique in having expectations, you’re in an echo chamber. Go talk to some FSU, Tennessee, Michigan, Texas, etc fans. Miami is only unique in people like Blake James and Julio Frenk being indecisive and allowing things to fester. Case in point example, keeping Golden for a fifth year.
If you want to clutch your pearls and hope and pray that things work out, that is great for you. I respect and envy your naïveté and simple minded nature. But you will not tell other people to be equally ignorant, tell them to not be fans or go to games, and will not somehow blame Manny being a **** coach on people calling him out for being a **** coach.
Yes. What terrible fans we are when my dad has been going to games every week since the 60s, to have two family members graduate from the school, to have had season tickets for nearly 40 years, to continue to donate, to continue to go to games both home and on the road. But sure, you enjoy your 25,000 person circle jerk watching a 7-5 team and making excuses back and forth because heavens forbid somehow has a different opinion from yours. There is a reason why Miami is considered to have have the worst fans in college football. I feel very sorry for your dad, having such a dumb son.. but nonetheless, I'll be pulling hard for UVA this Thursday in support of you!Yes. For the record, I have said repeatedly that the best thing for Miami is for Manny to be the guy, win 9-10 games this year and keep it moving forward. But sometimes things just do not work out and you cant stick your head in the sand and pretend everything is going great when reality and the facts dictate otherwise.
Buddy, we are not going there when you call someone dumb for seeing what is clear as day. What’s funny is all of these coaches love the traditions and history and standards until they fail and are held to those same points. Then suddenly it is the fans being harsh and mean to a grown man making millions. Cry me a river.I feel very sorry for your dad, having such a dumb son.. but nonetheless, I'll be pulling hard for UVA this Thursday in support of you!
Basically after Manny went on that diatribe about the progrum, Tim Reynolds was basically dised him and was like "after all of that." Gary Frrman was jamming manny up about player development and a few other things. What have they been saying? I saw Reynolds posted Manny's letter with a snarky note about typos but haven't seen much else.
It wasn't a letter. That letter isn’t well written. It’s too long and lacks a focused active-voice rebuttal to Kirk. This is probably why Manny doesn’t get the kids to run through a wall. Oh well.
Those comments then.It wasn't a letter.
That's a real ***** made comment to make. Whatever your dispute is with him you really find it necessary to take it to that... @RVACane for people like this can we simply start posting replies with their IP address? People like this is the problem here.I feel very sorry for your dad, having such a dumb son.. but nonetheless, I'll be pulling hard for UVA this Thursday in support of you!
No matter what happens another campus on stadium isn't in the cards. Traffic, land and building permits alone are heavily stacked against that idea. Best thing to hope for is they finally push through at tropical.Dude it wasn't a letter. It was an oral articulate response that a bad reporter tried to transcribe. Appreciate that. Fortunately, I know when I wake up and put my two feet on the ground, I know where they fall. I may be passionate but like to at least think that passion is rooted in logic, and definitely don’t need to toss out nonsense like that when the facts are behind you. That's a real ***** made comment to make. I don’t even believe you’re a Cane fan. I think you belong to another fanbase. You’ve been leaving a trail of troll poRsts all over the place here. But I know the poster you’re insulting and his connection to UM.I feel very sorry for your dad, having such a dumb son.. but nonetheless, I'll be pulling hard for UVA this Thursday in support of you!
@Poopscoop , @wspcane is friends with one of that mutual person we speak about’s younger relatives.Appreciate that. As a wise man once said, it’s better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. Buddy could learn a lesson from that.
Hope you and yours are well.
No, I'm a fan. And I'm an alum. And I think the fans on this website are crazy. Giving up on a team after two and three games of a long season is something I've never seen before at other fanbases.I don’t even believe you’re a Cane fan. I think you belong to another fanbase. And by the way, I lived throughout VA and the DMV for most of my life since leaving Miami to go to school in DC in 1984. Your statement in another thread talking about there being just as much to do in DC as Miami and tying it to Miami not being better as a city than Blacksburg is entirely disingenuous garbage.
Engineers in NoVa might drive to Blacksburg for some games but VT is nowhere near DC nor Richmond for that matter. VT students aren’t going out in DC or RVA on a Thursday night like it’s South Beach, Wynwood or the Grove to UM. It’s closer to Roanoke.
You were just trying to take your shots at Miami and our fans.
Do you read? I know plenty of people that drive to games from DC to Blacksburg. You were talking about DC having as much to do as Miami and so Miami doesn’t have a city advantage over Blacksburg which is different and disingenuous given the distance. No, I'm a fan. And I'm an alum. And I think the fans on this website are crazy. Giving up on a team after two and three games of a long season is something I've never seen before at other fanbases.
And yes, I know a lot of people that drive down to Blacksburg for football games from Northern Virginia. So good job on being wrong on everything
Settle down. I've made the drive down 81 to Blacksburg at least a dozen times.Do you read? I know plenty of people that drive to games from DC to Blacksburg. People have also been driven away for insults and you insulted @wspcane in this thread without cause. No, I'm a fan. And I'm an alum. And I think the fans on this website are crazy. Giving up on a team after two and three games of a long season is something I've never seen before at other fanbases.

That's hardly relevant to this discussion. I have followed sports my whole life and I've never seen a more schizophrenic fan base than this one. I've taking TONS of shots on this board for trying to stay positive at the very beginning of a season, before the conference season even starts, And it's getting tiresome. And I know for a fact that hundreds of people think like me but have been driven away from this website because of the overwhelmingly cancerous negativity.
