This is exactly what the problem is. It’s the group that vomits it everywhere and then cries about their rights to have an opinion. They don’t have a right to destroy the board for the 80% in the middle, thread by thread.

Quite frankly, it’s pretty frustrating for the Maude’s. We’ve worked hard to clean this place up and now we’re supposed to just watch a small group destroy that because they’re entitled to shît in every ******* thread?

There’s a small faction that does exactly that - posts **** in **** near every thread, constantly negative, and arguing with anybody that even remotely has a different opinion. One got the band today. Good riddance.

This board is NOT a democracy. Voicing an opinion - positive or negative - is expected and encouraged. But to constantly post negativity, berate and call other posters childish names, and **** on EVERY facet of the program should not be tolerated.

I don’t envy the Mod/Maudes one iota. You all do a solid job trying to keep this board somewhat civil. But there comes a point when decisions have to made that are best for the greater good. If some posters have to be sacrificed for the greater good, so be it.

We couldn’t even celebrate a commitment without a call out “victory lap” by the Manny Defense Force against the non-believers - to sum it up. Everyone else is somewhere in the middle and stuck between it coming out both ends.

I don’t blame some for the initial call outs as it was in response to people who were pretty aggressive on the other side but that should be past now unless they’re continuing like the comment above yours. That’s just going to keep it going. And whether we win or lose this week, won’t matter with these guys. They’ll be at it again - one way or the other.

I’m old folk can’t help it , yes OF always speak of days of glory I’m one for sure.

Example: We remember BC game years ago BC driving to win game and us OF were saying to our self someone is going to make a play and shut this down, BOOM REED scoops and goes 80.

We OF knew someone will make a big play we had confidence we are not losing this game.

I look around during our games now a say what do we have that can for it and I freeze I just don’t know.

This fuels my anger, I’ll NEVER call out a player or coach by name always in general since it’s a team problem I always say what is missing or our short comings but never name calling.

I’m myself because I don’t spell or communicate get it also.

I do thank management here for standing up for the defenseless .

Good points actually. My “football IQ” post was meant to address why we see such divergent POV here, and not the psychological toll of reading ridiculous, eye roll inducing hot takes…..over snd over and over.

There is a population here that believes they'll be able to motivate someone in a position of power to fire people, if only they can spam enough threads. Theres not much we can do about irrational people with access to a free, anonymous website. Put em on ignore and move on. No need to give them power by allowing them to **** us off.

It’s not the low IQ, it the peak of the bell curve fans who are the worst. Fans who want to get drunk and have a good time are generally upset because the product is visually and emotionally repellent. The hot summer day IQ crew post comparisons 1999 / manny = dabo threads reactively after every display of incompetence.

I posted this in the Band Bet thread. There is a difference between “talkin bout facts“ and a significant amount of the discussion that goes on here, and it isn’t because of “low football IQ posters”.

I have no reason to think any of the posters I disagree with aren’t wonderful people. It’s a college football forum, on the internet, after 18 months of the world losing its collective mind. It’s all too easy to look like a fool and very hard to behave wisely. I’m the chief of sinners in this regard, constantly removing doubt.

That said the board is absolutely terrible right now, made worse by some truly unserious opinions. Miami lost to FIU, I get it. La Tech, too. Manny sucks, Blake James sucks, the program is in a state of prolonged atrophy and suicidal decay. I know, we've all been saying it for 15 years. I can acknowledge these things and not say Blake James should be hit by a truck, his wife pegs him (didn’t even know what that meant until CIS), half our team should be in the portal, or that losing to an FCS school is more defensible than what Diaz has done thus far. I don’t spam every thread with the same stale can of graffiti, regardless of its original subject, in hopes that my effort will drag the program down further, or revel in the misery with a parade of celebratory posts. Maybe I’m getting old, but I fundamentally do not understand a significant amount of posters on this site anymore. Every day is a race to the bottom.

I used to believe that if Miami ever got back to the top, college football would hate us more than ever because we were “born in the darkness” of self-hatred after decades of futility. We beat ourselves up more than anyone else ever could, with more surgically-guided strikes than any other fan base could dream of launching. We would be merciless to other schools, turning every attack on them that we’d perfected on ourselves. We hate Miami more than we would ever be hated, I told myself, and back then I admired us for it. Now I’m much closer to giving up the team entirely than I am waiting for us to be watchable, let alone good. But it isn’t just because the program has become a bad comic with a yearly, 12-stop tour, it’s because the fans are as equally unserious, unfunny, and a waste of time to engage with.

If Miami loses to FSU I’ll happily disappear for good. The band bet will just be a bonus.

TL;dr - The state of the program and the fan base is nothing new, in fact it’s finally N’SYNC.

I agree with alot of your post. Do you think we want to feel this way about the football team we love?

Nothing we say or do can hurt this program more than what the university and bot have allowed to happen over the past 20 years.

Mods have a thankless job of balancing things from veteran posters causing problems that will run to Andrew and D$, mopes, slurper, etc.

BUT, if you are a poster/mod doing the following you are part of the problem:
- turning every thread into a rant regardless of subject - including dropping bombs and stirring ****
- turning any thread of a specific recruit into a anti-Miami mope
- posting more times (all negative) in the past 2 weeks than you did for the previous 8 months
- if you are getting called out in a ban bet thread for pimping FSU over Miami

The mirror says we are all more part of the problem at times than we think we are.

Nothing we say or do can hurt this program more than what the university and bot have allowed to happen over the past 20 years.

You (and everyone else) are absolutely entitled to feel the way you do. You might be surprised to learn most of the Maudes/Mods have similar feelings regarding the current state of the program. This board does provide a forum for discussing and even (in small doses) venting those feelings of frustration and angst.

But that does not mean every poster has carte blanche to be a slave to their feelings and post the incalculable amount of redundant garbage that has gone up on this board over the last 10 days. Yes, we are playing poorly. Yes, our AD is unqualified for the job. Yes, the majority of the BOT appears either incompetent or willing to accept a sub-standard product on the field. Yes, as much as some of us hoped he might be able to learn on the job, Manny is clearly way beyond his depth as HC. It's all been said, and most probably 80-90% of the board shares in these opinions.

However, rehashing these opinions (facts) over and over again, in nearly every single thread, with great vitriol and mindless self-indulgence (also a great band), is a pathetic form of group emotional/mental *********ion. Beyond that, it also gets in the way of legitimate discussion about the program, the team's performance, and its future (other than the "MiAMi suXx and WilL AlWAyz suK bAnners bAnners bAnners" drivel). At a certain point, it is a complete derailment of not only those individual threads that attempt to discuss actual topics beyond how "we suck," but it is a complete derailment of the board's purpose.
