This is how this scam works. Missouri comes in at 25 with an 8-4 record. They haven't beat anyone but they are SEC! This is how you have "quality wins" and "strength of schedule"! Why not Louisville, SMU, or Pitt?
At least louiville and pitt beat the 12th ranked team in the country

ACC went 4-6 against the SEC this year. take away trash Virginia Tech and the record is 4-4. 50/50 thats parity. Further:
1. trash fsu torched alabama
2. georgia tech lost to UGA by 7 pts. UGA beat 5 other SEC teams by more than 7 pts including ole miss. does that mean these other SEC teams are still better because of their residence in the SEC? A resounding No.
3. Louisville trashed Kentucky by 45 pts
4. we spanked UF.
5. syracuse lost to tennesee by 19 pts. they also lost to Miami by 28 pts, GT by 25 pts, and duke by 25 pts. this was a Tennesee ranked as high as #11.
6. Clemson by south caroline by 14 pts, TAMU could only beat them by 1 pt and Alabama by 7 pts.

This dominance of football rankings by one conference is achieved by ESPN and the national media putting their thumbs on the rankings scale because these schools have massive fanbases and alumni bases and bring in television dollars.
When you rank all these SEC schools high in polls to begin the year, despite the SEC being equal or slightly better then other conferences including the ACC, then you have a feedback loop in the college football rankings that self reinforces the overrepresentation of the SEC in terms of how many teams they have ranked and their position in the rankings
