Miami Hurricanes senior Mishael Powell was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

In Miami’s 42-14 win over Wake Forest, Powell notched his career-best fifth interception of the season, running the pick back 76 yards for a touchdown.

Powell’s interception return is the longest by a Hurricane since Kamren Kinchens went 99 yards to the house against Georgia Tech on Nov. 12, 2022.

Congrats Mish!

Starter for the National runners-up last season, starter for Top 10 CFP contender with a shot at another playoff run this year.

Come a long way since beginning his college career as a walk-on from a lightly regarded high school program

he's not a stellar athlete but he isn't as bad as people think. he overcompensates for when other guys are messing up.
I wonder if someone chart his production at his natural nickel spot from last game what would be results.. I think all his impact plays came when they moved him to nickel with Markeith at safety.. looking at snap count markeith had 15 plays..

So if u telling me he got 1 pick 6, sack, and almost pick all in 15 plays.. why we try to force him to be a safety

Who among our back seven is tbh?

I was about 20 rows up at the GT game. When we were lined up on D, it was like the LB's and DB's don't even really "look the part" of an elite defense

deserves it. he played really well and changed the game for the D (they were on their way to giving up another td off a 17+ play drive) and he made an absolute fantastic read.

Interested to see how he performs now that he is at nickel where he is most comfortable. He should have had 2 interceptions on Saturday. So far, so good.
Powell's move to safety and Mesidor's move to DT both came after the Spring if I'm not mistaken. Maybe Wake is just that bad on offense but they both looked fabulous back where they belong.
