If Dawson is coming back I don't know how, as a QB, you watch what just happened with Cam and not say, "yup, that's 100% for me". Great offense, great o-line, I mean...
Fair point.“If Ryan Day can’t get anything out of McCord, then no one will.”
“If Lincoln Riley can’t get anything out of Moss, then no one will.”
Emory can win with talent around him. He will need time though. And Mario doesn’t have time for a 7-5 season next year. He needs back to back 10 wins to shut recruiters up.I actually feel the same, however Emory hasnt had a chance yet to be our starter and prove what he can really do.
The sample size we saw from him as a freshman, showed he had guts, for sure.
We would need a truly dominant ground game and a true top 30 defense to get to 10 wins with Emory. Since I doubt our defense jumps that far up I think our ceiling with Emory is 8 wins because we don’t a “take a slant 70 yards” guy. Emory would need a squad around him. And we don’t have that except for a quality OL.Emory can win with talent around him. He will need time though. And Mario doesn’t have time for a 7-5 season next year. I like Emory. He showed toughness in the two games he played last year. Despite inexperience, the moment wasn’t too big for him. He did look good in fourth-quarter time earlier this year. He must not be the clear answer If the Canes are actively going to seeking a starting quarterback in the portal. He’s only one of the candidates.Emory is gettting the sentimental vote of confidence because he put it on the line vs fsu and broke his arm. Tough kid but this ain’t about no feelings

Remember when nobody wanted McCord ?
@Cribby - I had comped him as Brock Purdy like -I don’t know if it’s the “Miami thing” or just because it would require Miami passing up on what I feel are better QB options, but I just wouldn’t feel good with Mendoza.
I will admit, however, that he’s developing in a positive direction and better talent would help him. He’s obviously a very smart kid and I don’t know, something about him does give me Brock Purdy vibes/potential.

His trajectory, improvement, measurables, intangibles, etc and the fact that if Mario is dead set on him being the QB, that is what is going to happen. He would be a “stop gap” in terms of finding a new QB every year but again, that means Mendoza has developed better than anyone you have recruited, which again, is ******* concerning.
Thoughts, Cribby?
@Memnon - I think you have said hard pass on him but not sure.
I think He would be a D or F option. Mateer , Jackson Arnold and non P4 kid are guys I’d expect to get attention. The non p4 kid would be intriguing. Then Mendoza.
Good get for Brohm, he’ll fine tune him into a decent QB
Guess we’ll see won’t we?Isn’t that what Lincoln Riley does?
Brohm was able to get good production with some ehh qbs, I think he will light it up with Moss.Good get for Brohm, he’ll fine tune him into a decent QB
