It shows a connection and that Mario covets Lashlee's type of offense. Maybe he keeps Lashlee at OC and makes tweaks to the offense staff such as Oline coach. He may keep Fields. Fields worked at Oregon as a recruiting coordinator if my memory serves me correct.

What if simply just wants to coach? A lot of coaches get fired and sit on big checks but still don’t want to sit on their thumbs at home. What is being an OC/QBC is something he is willing to do because the responsibility and pressure is 7484839848x less than being a HC? Again, I know it’s a long shot...but it is worth trying and it would ease A TON of concerns about Mario and his style on offense.

And, as HC, I would expect Mario to have a chat with Lashlee about his short yardage playcalling. Now that he trusts TVD with the full playbook, that seems to be the last thing holding the O back.

Continually calling Short yardage run plays out of the shot gun with a 190lb RB…..

At this point I’m indifferent either way if Lashlee would stay under Mario

Lane Kiffin and Jeff Lebby still excite me, but it’s only 1/3 of the football game
 
Jurich is a must get. I'm sorry but I pass on Mario. I'm not sold on it having to be a Miami guy. Mario will coach his way regardless of personnel which means at the very best another 2-3 years. I'd rather see someone like Kiffin come in because he can install a system for the players already here while he gets his players in. Kiffin would be hanging 60 a game on most of the ACC immediately. Whoever it ends up being should be an upgrade but I'm not breaking the bank for Mario just because he's a Miami guy.

Bring in David Yost or someone innovative like that as OC on Mario's staff. He's been sitting on the sidelines for an year.

Listen man. Jurich is a slam dunk and you do that deal easy. But as far as the head coach search, take your time and find the right guy. Mario is number one on my list, but vet everyone. Mario, Petersen, Lane, Stoops, and Franklin. Don't just gift it to Mario.
