Think we can hire him for a QC/support staff position to give us the "ties to the community" we lost by canning Ice?

richt himself has ties to community. i don't see why u need a hs coach to have that. ice didn't help miami land many south florida kids last cycle.

the guys richt is bringing in have ties to south florida and across the nation. harley at marshall recruited over 30 south florida kids there. richt at georgia has recruited florida kids for years.

believe me south florida coaches have alot more respect for richt and whoever he hires then they ever did for golden and his staff period. golden could of had a whole staff of former south florida hc's and not got as much done in south florida as richt will.
 
No to hiring another high school coach for local recruiting ties. Hiring a local yocal coach only makes the other high school corches jealous. Winning cures all ills we have.

And what happens if we hire Rumph?
Who replaces him at American Heritage?
It could be a coach who doesn't have any bias or allegiance to UM.
Worse, it could be a dirtbag who wants to direct players out of Miami.
And what happens if there are coaching changes at the top and these local HS
coaches working on UM's payroll aren't retained?
Now you have coaches who are p!sssed off at the program.
It is better for UM if Rumph stays put and help his alma-mater identify and, if possible, direct
players to Coral Gables.

Exactly, plus why take a Cane out of one of the top HS in SFLA? IMHO, its more valuable and prudent to keep him at that school.

Exactly!
Hiring local soFla HS coaches muddles the recruiting waters for us.
If we have to hire someone, make it a coach who was going to retire or something along those lines.
 
Richt & Rumph should already have a good repoire since Rumph has sent multiple AH players to UGA
