Good strategy. Don't fall for the short-term bump in the road over reaction coach Mike Norvell is a keeper. Lock him In and the future will be bright for the Seminoles.

NOPE!!!! You just aren't seeing the big picture of what he is trying to build. As a Canes fan the thing the scares me the most is the Semenholes..I mean Seminoles locking up Norvell to an even longer contract.1. Think how bad the ACC sucks
2. Think how bad an FSU coach has to be to lose 9 consecutive games in the ACC

Exactly my thought.my guess is they go all in on the portal to see if mikey can turn it around next year with a top tier roster. a do or die season for him.
My understanding, however, is that the boosters have cut off the funding.Exactly my thought.
There are many ways to skin a cat in today's college football. Going buck wild in the portal/NIL is one of them. Another is overpaying for the best staff you can obtain/retain. I suspect they throw stupid money at players this offseason.
Whether it works is a completely different story. I think every team needs to strike an ideal balance between HS/portal long term. FSU has not managed to do that effectively from year to year.
Just a thought but that statement sounds to me like they called around their boosters to see if they could raise the money and they couldn't.If they could afford it, they would’ve fired him today.
If boosters cut off funding, but thr HC is retained, they will have an abysmal 2026 season. My understanding, however, is that the boosters have cut off the funding.
I don’t know how much $$ they will have or make available to throw around. From the podcast I’ve listen to, people up there are done with Norvell.
Just a guess...but you can only go to the "please write me a gigantic check so we can pay someone to go away" well so many times with the money people. If boosters cut off funding, but thr HC is retained, they will have an abysmal 2026 season.
Hello, 911, I'd like to report a murder.1. Think how bad the ACC sucks
2. Think how bad an FSU coach has to be to lose 9 consecutive games in the ACC

That $4.5 million was a donation from Norvell to the school.
These ADs will eventually learn not to give out these 8-10 year contracts like candy.

With the history of cornrows, maybe they thought prison Mike was a dei hire. These ADs will eventually learn not to give out these 8-10 year contracts like candy.
For sure.Just a guess...but you can only go to the "please write me a gigantic check so we can pay someone to go away" well so many times with the money people.
I'm sure it really rubs those people the wrong way to.see their money wasted like that. Once to fix the program...OK....but multiple times? They may not be on board
Just a guess
This was always the likely scenario. You can't pay $100M just for him to leave, no matter how justified it is. He's got you completely bent over the barrel.
I also think there's a decent chance he's back next year. They can't afford $100M now, but that number isn't that much lower at the of the season. Here is FSU's 2026 schedule:
OOC Schedule:
At Alabama
Notre Dame
Central Arkansas
Florida
ACC Schedule
Clemson
NC State
UVA
SMU
At Miami
At Louisville
At Pitt
At Boston College
What coach is signing up for that? They're gonna trot this loser's corpse out there again in 2026 to have him be a human punching bag while they try to fund raise and after 2026 they'll save a ton of money when they fire him due to his buyout, many of the assistant deals running out, and they have front-loaded almost all their NIL deals (as many teams have), those will be off the books.
But this is a very, very, very slippery slope for FSU right now. When you signed up to give a total loser this much guaranteed money, you're in trouble. They are not Texas A&M. There is a very good chance this program slides totally into oblivion (if they're not already there?) for the next several years. There is no "correct" or good way to do this. No matter what they do, they're ****ed.
Hate to see it.
Several sites I work on are down. I'm surprised no one is reporting on it. Seems like a massive cyber attackUM’s 247 site is InsideTheU (ITU). It has crashed as well and been down all morning

I mean there’s plenty of evidence of him groping recruits….Or hoping there is evidence of him groping an intern.
