Mike Bianchi’s Take On Mario’s Contract Extension

Generally speaking, has a point. But our situation with Mario appears a little more nuanced. This guy, who has been anti-Miami for years, probably just doesn’t realize it.
 
This clown from Orlando is jealous of all things Miami he once told his daughter that he was gonna switch genders on April fools day and the daughter told him she saw it come that should tell you everything you need to know about him
 
Why do ppl keep harping on the fact we haven't won an ACC title yet? Like I get it and we should win it this year, but we were 40 yards from a Natty. I wouldn't give a flying **** if we won the next several natty's without winning the ACC
 
He might be a stinkin' gator but I don't disagree with the premise and he has a few coaching examples to draw from.

Unless you think Mario is getting on level of Saban, a raise would have been perfectly fine. An extension? Maybe a bit premature.
 
Didn’t know Bianchi was still alive. Guess he crawled out from under his rock again.
 
I guess it was either writing this article or one about which Spa G5 Johnny goes to get the latest gel pedicures.

The recruiting alone disproves this. Coming off of their best seasons Norvell had the 14th ranked incoming class & 21st the following year. Mario had the 7th ranked incoming class & is currently the 2nd ranked class for the following year.

If Mario left us today he'd be leaving found money for the next guy. Norvell would be leaving a dirty jock strap & not much else.

Mario has also shown the willingness to move on from bad hires & actually improve with the next guy. Investing in him long term isn't about next year, good or bad. It's about the total tenure. Give him time & if he falls, he's proven he can get back up. Canes fans are gonna have to learn patience or move on because Mario is not.

Norvell was not the only example in the article. It happens to good coaches. Even NC caliber coaches. He still has 5 years left on his current contract. By all means give him a fat raise. Could have waited a few more years for that extension imo.
 
We were one play from a NC after winning ten games for the first time since 2017 - not apples to apples at all.

No, you can’t.

Once a Coach makes a CFP and sees his contemporaries making 30-40 with half of his results, you have to step in and close the gap.

This is what got Miami in trouble with Jimmy and Botch. Wait long enough and the issue becomes more about respect than it does $.

All I’m saying it could have waited… there was no waiting “long enough” yet with still 5 years left on his current contact.

I think a bump in salary would have been enough respect for now.
