Mike Arnold 2015 OL Could Commit to UM according to the front page article on RIVALS-Canesport (CS). This under the radar OT from Winter Haven, FL has interesting story behind his recruitment. While at an Al Golden Camp this summer, “Big Mike,” as his teammates refer to him, wasn’t even on the field long before being pulled aside by Hurricanes coaches and invited into the offices of the football staff. It was there that he was eventually told he had a scholarship offer awaiting him if he chose UM.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound rising junior was shocked. Now this young man will attend this weeks UM-UF game an based on the CS article he is a strong UM lean and he doesn't rule out become a Hurricane either at the game or soon after.

Big Mike was initially at a smaller school in Lakeland, FL "Landmark Christian" early in his career and he was looking for more exposure, a path to the next level that he wasn’t sure would open up at Landmark. Now he’s opening holes on the offensive line at Winter Haven, and clogging them on defense. The interesting question is why go to Winter Haven when when Lakeland HS is a perennial power an would offer the bigger stage when compared to Winter Haven? He may have followed his teammate 6'2" 190lbs 2015 RB Keland White who transferred to WHHS also from Landmark Christian. White will bare watching over the next 2 years to see how he develops as a potential big back. He needs to gain weight and improve his speed both which will come as a grows, playing in a large school classification.

Golden Loves two-Sport athletes and Mike Arnold also plays for the WHHS basket ball team.

Arnold was selected the 2013 #2 OG in the Tampa Bay area by Big County Prep. These players have been chosen out of 92 football teams in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and Polk County. Players are ranked at either their high school position or projected college position.

I like UM jumping on kids early based on internal evaluation, but with the attention this kid is about to generate I wonder if he would stick as a commit, seeing that he transferred schools to get more exposure an committing this early to UM would force him to shut down recruiting before it started. But then again he could be one of those low key types that wants to commit to a great school then just lay low.

He also stated if he doesn't hear more from FSU then he will commit to Miami'

I hope this kid isn't playing us to get an offer from FSU and then flip

Per Canesport Article after the UM vs UF game which 2015 OL Mike Arnold attended and was supposedly going to commit now has UM in his Top 2 schools. Which is still good considering he has 2 yrs before signing day, so its better to have commit when he is solid an won't flip last minute.

Well it sounds like you were right about Arnold trying to use UM to push FSU into offering.

Winter Haven lineman Mike Arnold would commit on spot if offered by FSU

Chris Hays | Florida Recruiting, Orlando Sentinel
9:26 pm, November 3, 2013
Amid all of the high-profile high school football prospects roaming the sideline prior to Florida State’s battle with Miami on Saturday night stood a player who not only would love to have a scholarship offer from FSU, but Mike Arnold is also on the verge of being one of those high-profile prospects.

The two-way Winter Haven junior lineman, whose teammates call him "Big Mike," took in the spectacle of one of college football’s* biggest games of the 2013 season and was basking in the moment.

“It was a great vibe. I was kind of expecting [FSU] to win, but I didn’t know by how much,” Arnold said Sunday of the Seminoles’ 41-14 victory that kept FSU very much alive in the chase for the BCS National Championship. The latest BCS rankings released Sunday night have FSU at No. 2 behind Alabama. “I’ve been to a game there before, but that atmosphere last night .. that was the first time I’d been in that.

“People in the crowd were crazy and they were loud. ”

Arnold, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive and defensive lineman, is still waiting on an offer from the Seminoles and he said FSU defensive line coach Odell Haggins told him it was only a matter of time.

“Coach Odell told me I will receive one, he just said it would be during the spring time,” said Arnold, who had time to chat with Haggins during Saturday’s visit to Doak Campbell Stadium.

One reason the Seminoles might be waiting is that they could be making sure they have Arnold on their list of priorities, because once they offer, Arnold said he’s a Seminole.

“Once they offer me, I will commit … and he already knows that. He’s just trying to make me wait,” Arnold laughed.

Arnold, whose 7-2 Winter Haven squad will open the state playoffs at home as the Class 6A, District 11 champions and will play host to Cape Coral Ida Baker in the first round, said he has been playing a little defensive end for the Blue Devils, as well as tackle.

“It’s fun and I got my 40 [yard dash] time down to 4.9 [seconds],” he said. “But I can see myself playing on both sides of the ball.”

When given the opportunity to choose what side of the ball he’d like to play in college, Arnold could not decided.

“I like both,” he said. “but I can see myself at [defensive tackle] once I get there [to college].

Arnold said that as much as he would love to don the garnet and gold of the Seminoles, the team that has been recruiting him the hardest is Miami, which has already offered him a scholarship, as has UCF, Duke, Wake Forest and NC State.

He also said the outcome of a game he’s attending, such as Miami’s lopsided loss to the Seminoles, doesn’t really have much influence on what his college decision might be.

“Nah, it doesn’t really have any impact,” Arnold said.

At this point, Arnold just wishes he could speed up the whole process and peer into his future so he knows where he’ll end up.

“I wish I could graduate early,” he said.

the article is from November paranos. And if I remember correctly he put out top 10 or 15 without us in it.

I know the article was old but from day one at UM camps he has been talking about FSU, but just keeping the door cracked for UM until FSU offers. But finally in the November article he comes cleans with his true feelings for FSU, keep in mind that was an orlando news paper an you can clearly see which way he is slanting and he knows they are slow playing him bigtime.

Here is a Canesports article he did talking about Miami feels like home, blah blah back in December a few weeks after the Orlando article touting his love of FSU.

I will still stand by my statement that this kid sucks and is not a D1 player. Also never played OLine this year. Was all Dline.

“Once they offer me, I will commit … and he already knows that. He’s just trying to make me wait,” Arnold laughed.

Apparently the FSU slow playing him has him looking Miami's way a little harder.
