Michigan

The only way this makes any sense is if the scoreboard/tv clock got slightly unsynched when the refs added a second back on the clock before the start of the play. IIRC, the ref announced a reset of the stadium clock from :08 to :09.

So, while CFB clocks don't display tenths of a second like in basketball, they obviously still exist. So, if the official clock (which apparently is hidden) was actually at 9.3 seconds (showing :09), and the stadium clock is changed from :08 to :09 (which would be 9.00 seconds left) that could explain why the Scoreboard/TV clock showed :00 at the same time the "official" replay clock still showed :01, which changed to :00 fractions of a second after they claim the WMU touched the ball.

Still, I think the officials needed to have also synched up another camera angle that showed the WMU player actually touching the ball with their "official" clock still showing :01 to overturn the call on the field. You can't tell from the angle the Big10 posted when the WMU player touches the ball.
Doesn't really work like that, when a number is shown it means that number or tenths lower than that, can't be higher. So if it shows 9 seconds, it's from 9 seconds all the way to 8.01. Won't change to 8 till it's 8.00. If it were 9.3, for example, clock would show 10.

Simple to prove, the clock starts at 15:00.00, then it goes to 14:59.00. When it says 15:00.00 it is down from there yet wont go to 14:59 till a second has passed.

So if it reads 0 on the clock, its 0.00 or else it would say 1.

This!

LMAO at Michigan fans inventing a new rule.
They claim the ball was dead when it hit an imaginary line out of bounds before touching the player.

So if a player jumped, caught the ball, technically out of bounds, but dragged a toe inbounds, the game ended when the ball went out of bounds, no TD? 🤣

I don’t even blame Meatchicken here. These are Big10 refs, this is on the conference.

Didn’t the Refs have the clock reset to 9 seconds just the play before? Clocks should have been synced then

Football also only used absolute seconds so anything under 1 second wouldn’t matter

Someone can correct me if I’m off

Fair point. I'll edit that part of my post.

I think the Big10 needs to explain how and why the TV broadcast clock and the clock in their replay were not in sync. I don't think they put out a fake video. I believe the video they posted is obviously what the replay officials viewed, which showed :01 on the clock at a point in the play that the broadcast showed :00.

Another possible explanation would be that the stadium clock operator started the clock a fraction of a second earlier than in the replay clock. That doesn't mean the replay clock was correct.

They were either both synched at :09 at the snap or they weren't. If they were synched, then they must not have started at the same time if one showed :00 when the other showed :01.

Exactly. What’s to stop conferences from setting up multiple super secret backup clocks split seconds behind to pull out for “break glass scenarios”?

What is this bull****?

Where the B1G kept its secret clock

These refs also royally f#cked Miami in favor of the B1G in the Ole Miss game. They aren't dumb, they knew Miami was going to be playing a B1G team in the championship. This is a very, very important reason why I'm not overly enthusiastic about joining the B1G. We're not going to get the calls when we're playing B1G royalty.

Big 12 refs called very fair games. Did we ever have SEC refs in the playoffs? I can't remember. To the ACC's credit, they actually called some holds on the Stanford OL so maybe the ACC finally got the memo about protecting its only good team.

Regardless. There is no way in **** that any Michigan fan, coach, or player can feel good in any type of way about their program or quarterback. They need to disappear from their top 25 with their cheating asses. They are probably not a top 50 team.

Sec called cotton bowl I believe

This still doesn't explain why there was a discrepancy. Big10 should release a screen split into thirds (TV broadcast/the "official" replay clock/the replay feed they used) from before the ball was snapped to the end of the play.

This is outrageous. I have zero respect for Kyle Whittingham after saying this lie. “As I watched the first Hail Mary end and the ball sailed out of the back of the end zone, as I glanced at the clock, I was pretty sure there was 1 second left, but that obviously is not up to me,” Whittingham said postgame.

You’re correct. The fix was in. Michigan has become such a laughing stock that the Big 10 has to prop them up. But, this is what happens when you play one the “traditional blue bloods” at their “sToRiEd vEnUeS”, just know this is the type of officiating you’re going to get, especially if certain people have big money on the game. And if Miami is coming to town. If the game can be handed to the blue blood home team by the refs, it will be. When they labeled it “Convicts vs. Catholics” in 1988, you knew exactly how it was gonna go. Couldn’t let the “Convicts” win and ruin the media narrative.

They couldn’t let an in-state MAC school humiliate their precious Big 10 blue blood on their home field. They simply refused to allow it. College football officiating in general has always favored the same teams who are always placed in the top 10 in every preseason magazine by the sports media members who make money off their success. It’s not that hard to figure out. It’s all about the money.
