Michigan vs. Indiana

Harbaugh has a ginormous contract, in a Covid yr where schools have bled $$, and Michigan is an extremely young team. I doubt he gets fired this yr; but if he starts slow next yr, Michigan man or not, he’s getting the ax. Their alumni are extremely frustrated w him.

I may be mistaken but I think I read Harbaugh’s buyout is manageable after the season.

$10m this yr. Cheaper to keep her. His contract ends next season, anyway. Why pay the $10m buyout + a new coaches salary? It’s a win/win for Meeechigan:

1. Harbaugh, along w a billion coaches in America, have the Covid excuse in their back pocket

2. Let Harbaugh prove it on his last yr of the deal; if he succeeds, extends him. If he doesn’t, let him go & save that money. I know UMich pockets r deep, but schools r losing 100’s of millions this season.

True, but how well can he recruit without an extension? There are rumors he may want to return to the NFL and a number of jobs may open up. Maybe not fire him, but not exactly fight his leaving for an NFL job.

Glad u brought that up, b/c this may be the viable option. If he leaves on his own volition, then no harm no foul. But I do know he tried to negotiate a contract extension this season & then all talks stopped due to Covid. So it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
