Out of GA, surprised we haven't heard anything about him, he has an offer and UGA already interests and commits with other DTs.
Nothing on Kobe Smith, Stephon Taylor, or Jabari Ellis lately either.
Or are we waiting for Rocker to get here to situate the DTs?

Richt is only focused on EE until he gets a staff in place. After the dead period you will see more names and clarity of what he wants to do.

Seems like a good approach

In November, Carter's list Top 5 were Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. With Bama and UGA as his Top 2, so with the Bama DC taking over for the instate home team, I am thinking that Carter does not leave the state of Georgia.

He list his Top 5

4. Defensive line coach

It has been reported that Tracy Rocker has a chance to be retained by UGA and with a reputation as one of the best defensive line coaches in America, it’d be wise for The Bulldogs to make that happen. Either way, the guy who coaches this group is very important as he will have a pair of major responsibilities in his first full year. Georgia has two talented defensive linemen committed already in Tyler Clark and Julian Rochester. Whoever is position coach will need to hold on to those guy. Derrick Brown, the state’s top prospect, and Michail Carter are also out there and The Bulldogs both want and need both. UGA also has some young but very talented players it will have to rely on up front next season and the coach picked to groom this bunch is very important.

2016 DT/NT Kobe Smith is solidly committed to Kentucky for now.

2016 DT/SDE Stephon Taylor is uncommitted but is for all intents and purposes LSU's to lose even with a last minute NSD offer.

2016 DT/SDE Jabari Ellis is a most likely an academic causality hence why even Appalachian State has backed off his offer. Which is unfortunate because the kid had a great year and was named State Linemen of the year. He was also selected to play in the Shrine Bowl.

Pretty sad to see Georgia might sign 4 top DTs in 1 class and we're begging for 1 to come.Richt was putting together a great class to make a run the next few years. The top QB,2 top RBs,Top DL and the top athlete.

They are all in state Georgia kids, so heck yeah they want to play in front of their families for 4-5years then migrate up to the NFL. This year in particular the state of Georgia is loaded with DT talent. Ten of the countries Top 50 DT's are from the state of Georgia for the 2016 Class. And the state of Louisiana is not to far behind them in terms of quality and quantity of DT's for the 2016 class.

Also keep in mind that is not counting the under the radar type sleeper DT's in the state Georgia for 2016

LSU might sign two 5* and two 4* DTs too, all in state.

Why Florida ain't growing no DTs.

Florida does produce DT's just not at the rate as Georgia or Louisiana, they have some big ole country boys up there. Florida produces speed all day. Also in south florida most High school coaches prefer fast lighter dlinemen over developing the bigger space eating 300lbs DT's and the Head Coaches tend to push the bigger kids to play Oline from very early on in high school. I think it was poster Gogeta who wrote an excellent thread about this.

Richt followed Kobe Smith just today on Twitter.

Along with Donte Vaughn Donte Vaughn, Whitehaven, Cornerback
D'Andre Christmas Giles D'Andre Christmas-Giles, St. Augustine, Defensive Tackle
Rashan Gary Rashan Gary, Paramus Catholic, Defensive Tackle
Mykel Jones Mykel Jones, Patterson, Wide Receiver
Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson, Franklin, Athlete

Baez followed them all too.

lol we are not getting Rashan Gary

doubt it, just seemed noteworthy. Maybe Richt thinks he can shoot for the stars and impress them with the big city life.

There are definitely DTs in Florida - Camp and Manuel are top 20 DTs this year - and Camp was committed here for awhile...perhaps we could get him back in the fold with the coaching turnover at USC....

Next year, there are 3 in-state DTs that are top 20 - Ford from Dillard (we lead for) and 2 from Newberry (FSU has one and leads for the other)...Also, Parks at Sebastian River is a top 3 DE, but he started the year at 6'5" 255; it's quite possible that he'll grow into a DT in his senior year much as Manuel has done this year...and others will emerge

Texas and Georgia seem to usually do the best with producing top DTs annually. But Florida, Louisiana, NJ and some others consistently produce as well...

The great news with Richt is that he should give us a better opportunity to vie for some Georgia DTs - I don't think Miami has ever gotten a big-time DT from Georgia, so we're well overdue...

It'll be interesting to see how the class shapes up now with a real HC here and (hopefully) a high-quality staff to join him soon...

We'll probably end up with a few commits that are completely off the radar at this point - maybe one of the fellows from your list, too...

Yeah, make that 4 out of the top 20 DTs in 2017, although Spence is another one of the IMG players originally from Maryland (Gilman).

I'm not sure what the draw is for all these high-profile MD kids to go to IMG, but the more top players in state, the better...

And who knows, maybe we'll have a shot at the DE from IMG (Rahshaun Smith) in this year's class who went to the same school in MD as Cager...

That Cam Spence kid at IMG look a like an interesting prospect.

I like that he is at least trying to compete with the nations best and not scrapping against FAU and Temple recruits. It is very refreshing
