You don't go get JUCOs to sit a year. You get them for insant impact at positions that have holes. Oddly enough, Wyche is a DT, a position where we have an issue. He's a grown man at 20, 21. No redshirting for him.

So what? DT is our primary position of need, and Wyche is a fully grown man with experience. Redshirting him would be stupid.

Forget about Miami. Programs don't go after JUCOS with the thought that they need to sit a year. Just go recruit a high school kid if you're looking for him to get acclimated

u can and do redshirt jucos. but, this kid is coming in to play right now. we don't have the luxury of recruiting and redshirting juco dts.

our DT situation is horrid and the reason we went after him was solely to step into the 2deep on our roster /end argument

Why is our DT situation so horrid that we "must" play this guy this season?

I think with or without him our DT situation is going to be horrible this season. Why not get the most our of the season by redshirting as many players as possible?

i would rather redshirt jenkins and moten over wyche

he's older with more time in the weight room and prbly hold up better
 
WOW what a story, this is guy who has nothing to lose and if he leaves everything on the field he could be a dangerous man. all that hurt can turn into anger and he will be a beast. im even more excited to have him knowing his past and he is not taking this position for granted.
 
Golden has stated on Joe Rose's show that he looks for JC guys who can help immediately. He also said that the JC guys who are projected to be immediate help for BCS schools aren't looking to sit out a year. Those guys are in demand, and can find a school where they don't have to sit. If you want to redshirt them, they aren't coming. What Iowa St. does with JC guys is not relevant to UM.

Thanks for your generalized, not to the point, response! You don't redshirt a guy with 2 years to play 2! We have garbage talent at the DT position. When Olsen Pierre is your best DT, you don't redshirt JUCO's. He might play high but the guy is a two ton boulder in the middle of the field. He learns to play lower & be consistent, he should be pretty good.
 
Come fall camp I guarantee Pete will report that the Wyche came to Miami way out of shape and he is not as far along as the coaches would like.
 
I believe Bryant McKinnie and Jerome McDougle both redshirted and they were JUCOs. But we dont have that luxury this year. At the NG or DT spot, all we have is Moore, Pierre, King, and Hertoulou. Thats it IIRC. And you think we can redshirt this kid? (im not counting any Tr-Fr, its comical to think they will be able to help us this year. )

I do think that Sandland should have redshirted BUT he was the #1 JUCO TE in the country....so...yeah..he wasnt coming here to redshirt.
