Michael Smith, Potential WR Coach

I mentioned him on here a few days ago after researching former coaches under Enos. Although he has a relationship with Enos and a relationship with Hickson, he also has one with stoops from being at Arizona.

We’ll see which one holds up strongest. He’s paid well at UK, around 400k. We’ll see what we can do if they want him that much or are willing to pay that for him.
 
Coach Smith is in the last year of a 2 yr contract that pays $400K for the 2019 season. He will have to pay a buyout to UK of $100k if he leaves before the contract is finished. So since it is already the 2019 season he may be able to get out of the buyout or at least prorate it if he comes to Miami.

Ha, Michael Smith went to the same high school I did - Jesuit High School in New Orleans. I was in 8th grade, he was a senior. He was incredibly nice to me and often took lots of time to speak with me. Left an impression on this young pre-freshmen at the time. An awesome dude who was loved by all.

Kind of confused as to why the last 2 position coaches (WR and TE) coaches haven't been hired yet or at least not announced yet. Why the long delay? I guess Manny is hitting the recruiting trail THAT hard? Seems like you'd want all of your guys out there recruiting as much as possible.

Miami has spent a crap load of money and is most likely running the numbers on whom brings the most bang for the buck. Coach Smith is going to want in the $400-$500k and help with his $100k buyout.

Or Miami can find a young up an coming WR Coach for $225k-$350k with no buyout. Then use the extra $150k to hire two additional offensive analyst. So its
