Michael Parrott is not hurt

Another special teams boggle is Jacolby George fair-catching everything inside the 10 yard line. Sometimes it's warranted but other times he'd be better served to let the ball go and see if it bounces into the endzone. Meanwhile, Lou Hedley can't pin anyone deep lately.
I have noticed Lou isn't booming them to his standards the past few weeks. Hopefully just a slump and not some underlying issue/injury.

This is actually a fair point.

I too have noticed that Hedley hasn’t really been flipping the position of the field as often as he should IMO.

There’s some times when it seems like the ball catches too much of the side of his foot & it floats out of bounds a whole 10 yards before it’s supposed to.

I’m sure there’s a stat that can disprove what I’m saying because I really don’t keep track of Punting stats, but I do remember saying to myself multiple times this season, “**** that Punt didn’t go that far”.

Now, I realize that 80% of those reading this have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm failing to understand why this bloke is on every special team when someone more athletic and perhaps more effective could take his place. This isn't quite like Jimmy Murphy who made several tackles on kickoff. Our coverage teams are dreadful and it's only a matter of time before we allow the next back-breaking special teams touchdown. I'm sure he's a good kid who deserves a shot once in a while but don't understand the hard-on Patke and Diaz have for him on specials.
Is it possible that we have more talented players who can't be bothered to learn how to play special teams? I don't even know who this kid is, but if he can field a punt cleanly, I say we put him on returns. Really. I'm tired of people calling for this or that kid to see the field when they can't be bothered to learn the job or work at practice. I begin to suspect this team is lazy, and that's unacceptable. At least it should be.

Of course it's possible. It will always be a mystery why the short, white walk-on from out-of-state runs faster down the field on kickoffs than the 4-star recruit who could have played anywhere. Parrott has been here forever and I'm sure he's earned his spot on the field I'm just not necessarily enjoying the fruits of his labor. Coaches are obsessed with rewarding walk-ons and it's always fun when they make a play. I'm calling on Parrott to make a play tomorrow.

In fairness to Huff, one of his penalties was him getting caught retaliating on a Pitt player who provoked him. He also had a solo tackle on a kickoff last week. Parrott actually does seem to hover near the ball but he isn't Jimmy Murphy, and he's either missed tackles or has not gotten in position to make a play because he's 5'8 240. Michael Parrott isn't why we're 4-4, and maybe he'll force a fumble tomorrow and shut me up.
Murphy was better than all of our scholarship players on special teams, especially on kick coverage. That's a **** high bar. If there was ever a 12th Man, it was that kid.

We can't forget about Popovich, Aaron Moser and white guy number 41 from the early 90s whose name I can't remember.

In fairness to redshirts missing tackles on special teams we have about 40 guys on defense that can’t tackle either.I also asked the question on Saturday about what happened to the old saying on punts “ stand at the 10 and if you have to go backwards let it go”.To me that’s coaching cause George might do it once maybe twice but his *** should never get the chance to do it a third time…

He is punting more Aussie style this year. He is still #8 in net punting. But yes, against Pitt he was inside the 20 twice but not very Lou-like compared to 2020 when he was just deadly.

I rewatched the BCU game, and I swear to you Michael Parrott was on the sidelines in his #41. I thought he was long gone and working in finance or something. But there he was. No pads or helmet, just his jersey. The legend continues.

Lmaoo.. You actually helped me find the play I was talking about in other thread, that was play where TVD felt a little pressure and didnt maneuver the pocket if you listen the crowd was already getting aroused at prospect of play developing downfield, it was a big play about to happen with deep middle of field open. They play opened up perfectly but pocket wasnt clean so tvd just checked down..

Oh and its better you use the timestamp of video and not the game tape.. At the 24.59 mark of video
