Michael Irvin with the highest praise for Mali

He’s the best that I’ve ever seen play the position and I’m not saying that because I’m a Canes fan.

I’m saying that because he’s doing things on the field that I’ve never seen done before and he’s making it look easy.

It’s like Malachi sees the football field like Larry Bird used to see the basketball court. His vision on the field is his very own cheat code. His anticipation and his football IQ are also off the charts.

The dude is a complete football player and I look forward to watching him continue to make plays for our CANES.

I’m beyond stoked that he decided to stay close to home and stick with his original commitment to the Canes after he de committed from his original commitment last year. Gg

He beat me to it and obviously it means 1000x more coming from him.

But what I saw from Toney on Friday reminded me of watching Michael Jordan play basketball. He could just do whatever he wanted out there.

Even after Irvin said it it still sounds crazy to say.... but in my opinion this kid could legit be the greatest Miami Hurricane ever to play and maybe the greatest football player ever to play, at any level, when it's all said and done. As in, better than Rice, Moss, etc.

The Jeremiah Smith vs Toney debate is dumb. People thought hakeem olajuwon was better than Jordan coming out of college because of measurables. Smith is Olajuwon. Honestly I don't think it's even a debate between those two and time will prove that out.
 
Everyone talks about his athleticism, speed, etc. but it’s all the other parts of his game that really impress me and sets him apart. His willingness to mix it up and throw a nasty block if need be(toughness), his football I.Q. and understanding of the game, and finally his most underrated aspect…route running. He’s the complete package.
 
What TrumpyCane found amazing about Toney against Stanford was he was WIDE OPEN on every single ball, outside his screen catches, there was no one within 5 yards of the kid, they had no answer whatsoever
 
For the soccer fans on here, Messi has all of the skill in the world, but how scanning of the field and processing it faster than everyone else is what really sets him apart and made him unguardable. That’s what Toney has.
 
I dont know about him being the GOAT...HOWEVER..he is only 1 of 2 WRs in the NCAA who you absolutely cannot cover 1 on 1. (Jeremiah Smith). And when hes in the slot...he is unguardable.
