Michael Irvin Transferring

I hope MI2 is staying because with the injuries at LB and TE our special teams would suffer. LBs and TEs play a lot of special teams and we can't afford any drop off in that area. Plus with Brevin's injury history we need him. And with the fast-paced offense we need bodies for practice and game reps.

I have no idea how much he'd play next year. The offense doesn't use many TEs in the first place and if they have one guy, they feed him. He's 3rd on the depth chart...good luck to him, and loved having him here. Wish he'd stay, but I get it.
IDK if he's graduated already. If he graduates this Spring, he could move on this Summer elsewhere.

Wouldn't blame the guy for wanting to go somewhere he'll play.

The selfish fan in me wants him to stick around because he's exactly what you need in a reserve tight end. Capable blocker who won't embarrass himself if thrown a pass.

if he leaves , can we sign 2 guys from the portal to get to 25 ?
yes, i do not know all the nuances of rules.... if wee can add 2 would be greta an OT and a DB or WR ?

Ivins and Lake talked about this briefly on their post practice podcast today. They said that nothing is sorted out with him. I guess stay tuned is where it's at...

That's not how it works. If he leaves, then UM loses that roster spot period until his graduation year.

Go Canes

Are you ******* kidding me? How the **** did they not plan that better prior to the season.

The University of Miami schedules classes for all of the students, not just the 85 on the football team.

If an athlete has a required class, school comes first. The football team can't possibly schedule practices around the class schedules of 85 players.

This usually only happens with upper-level required classes that are not offered at other times.

It's not a "plan better" situation.

It's a "university doesn't have infinite numbers of professors offering infinite numbers of courses" situation.

No.

Research the IC rules and stop focusing on "85 total scholarships".

We won't get back to 85 recruited scholarship players for years, if ever, unless the IC rules are changed.

This is 100% a plan better situation. The school should not be scheduling mandatory classes, that players are planning on taking, that take place at the exact same time as football practice.

they make sure the players arent taking classes when there is scheduled practices. its all done before theyre even registered for spring classes or theyre moved into sections that work for the team schedule
Not saying it's the case, but if a student-athlete needs a class to graduate or be eligible and the course is only offered during practice time, then they would have to miss practice.
